April production increase on Thrash 30-16-8 in Bienville Parish

I got a nice surprise in my last royalty check from QEP – Sonris shows that they finished a “hydraulic fracture stimulation” on Thrash 30-16-8 in late March. Production in April was two and a half times better than the best month the well ever had!

A couple of questions – is the “hydraulic fracture stimulation” what would be commonly referred to as a “re-frac”? And how common are these in the Haynesville area? Thanks.

QEP hasn't been drilling new wells, just re-fracing some selected wells.  Chesapeake has also stated plans to begin a modest re-frac program.  I suspect that all the other Haynesville operators will be working to identify their wells that are good re-frac candidates.  Keep in mind that all the early wells are under-stimulated in addition to having short perforated laterals.
