Oil spill hardships forcing people to have to give-up their pets.

I don't know how many GHS.com members are in the South Louisiana parishes most effected by the BP oil spill but I wish if there are some represented here they would share their personal stories.

My passion is animal welfare and I want to share this information. I know we can't all adopt a pet but many of us can donate money to help. These situations are critical - beloved family pets are in desperate need of new homes, most are young and healthy, many are purebred...they are all innocent, defenseless victims in need of attention.

They are animals without souls and not worthy of prayer. I'd eat the dog before I starved. Simple as that. Like most Americans, your priorities are misplaced.
I'd trust the dogs to help me find food if I were starving. I also trust my dogs to "sound an alarm" when something out of the ordinary is going on outside the house. It seems they are better deterrents to thieves when I'm not home, too. Probably why one can now buy gadgets as home security devices that "bark" like dogs. I've read that those who own & walk dogs tend to be healthier than those who don't. Same goes for social interactions, can't tell you how many neighbors I have to visit while walking because 1. they start a conversation about the dogs or 2. the dogs play a perpetual game of "trick or treat" with some neighbors.

I've seen how animals are treated in Asian countries. They're allowed to suffer on the street with horrible disease because euthanasia is not allowed. Religious beliefs.

We'll continue to try to take care of the homeless & displaced pets here, thank you.

MJC,

Good thing you don't set my priorities, or anybody else’s for that matter. Pretty crappy thing to say when these ladies are pouring their hearts out for these animals. You just affirm the reason that a dog is a man’s best friend, and not a another man.
LOL. Really? WHO are YOU to talk of priorities?????????????? Jebus! Obviously someone that had no pet or their pet can't stand to live with them.
BTW: where did you get the information that they..."are without souls"?
MJC,
I welcome you to my house. And then my 80 pound red healer (who, by the way, once ran off an intruder who had my front door open at 3:15 A.M., thereby saving my family), will promptly rip the worthless meat from your sorry bones. You want my address?
MJC,
By the way, if you happen to escape my house, I will still find you, because ole Griffen is a dang good blood trailer.
LOL, likely won't happen. Isn't there a sign/picture posted somewhere around here that asks the question (of anyone is even THINKING of breaking & entering)

"Think you can run faster than my Doberman?"

Of course, there are several breeds that one could substitute.

FYI, for anyone interested, this is a little off the topic, but here locally Robinson's Rescue keeps putting out appeals that they need help. I'm already signed on, but if anyone else is so inclined, look them up. They're very flexible about working with whatever time one can give.
