These people have been contacting landowners in North S. Landry and Southern Avoyelles Parishes.  Does anyone have any idea what's going on?

The Schoefflers provide land services under a number of company names.  Best guess is that they are representing a client in an effort to assemble a lease block.  Although it may or may not be applicable in this instance the Schoefflers have leased on behalf of a number of operators (meaning companies that actually drill wells) in various plays that I have followed over the years.  I do not recall any credible complaints regarding their business dealings.  And it should be understood that it is common for operating companies to employ land companies such as Sentry Energy to provide leasing services.  Not being familiar with the parishes in question, I have no idea of the target formation(s) that may be involved.

Kyle, I suggest that you consider posting a discussion on the Sentry Energy leasing in these two parish groups.  When you do that the members of each group will get an email alerting them to your new discussion.  This is the best way to connect to other members who may have an interest in or some information on this leasing effort.

Kyle, you now have the same discussion posted three times on the Main Page.  Please delete the last two by using the "options" button in the upper right hand corner of your discussion title and select "delete".  If you have difficulty doing that please let me know and I'll get Keith's help to do it.

Thank you Skip.  I have posted on both the St. Landry and Avoyelles groups.  Thank you!

Kyle Hubbard

Good.  I hope you get some replies.  Now see if you can get rid of the two duplicate Main Page discussions please.

Skip, I am having some computer issues.  Would you ask Keith if he can remove those posts?

Kyle

I just sent him an email, Kyle.  He'll take care of it when he gets time.

Thanks Skip.

You're welcome, Kyle.  I don't see your discussions in the Avoyelles and St. Landry parish groups.  You need to use the links I provided, go to those individual group pages, join the group and then click on Add A Discussion at the bottom of the last discussion that appears at the bottom of the group page.  Let me know if you need any further help.

Heard that XTO was looking at the chalk

Madman posted this in one of the duplicate threads.

I received notice of a letter today from Sentry.  The letter was not sent to my current address so I have not yet reviewed it. I will call the number provided for an agent in Opelousas tomorrow for more information.

I previously leased this property to Anadarko and the Dominque 27 was installed there.  It did not last but for a few months before problems occurred.  Question - Does this sound as though Anadarko has released me from my agreement with them?  I was paid a small gas royalty last year.  Any guidance from this board is greatly appreciated

Thanks for cleaning up the thread, Keith.

Madman, your original lease had a primary term, quite often it's three years but could be a little longer.  If the only well or unit that covered your minerals was the Dominque 27, and it has ceased production for a period longer than any operations clause in your lease, and the primary term of your lease has expired then your minerals should be no longer bound by the Anadarko lease and you would be free to lease to Sentry.  That's the short, general answer and a longer one would not be appropriate with the limited information available.  It is always a good idea to get a lessee to file a release of lease in the public records of your parish so that it is clear that your minerals are available to be leased however Sentry may have done all the research they require to determine your status and that is why they are trying to contact you.

Thank you Keith for placing my reply in the appropriate thread.

And thank you Mr. Peel for the information.  Your knowledge and expertise is in this is much appreciated.  I have read many of your responses over the years.

I am waiting for a return call now from their agent in Opelousas and will update all once I have more information to share.
