There are so many abbreviations used in the discussions is there a place to look for the definitions - If not can we start one - It would help the newbies and me! Some I can figure out and others . . . I know this is not interesting but could be helpful. Keith how about something on the header?

Shaleeee,

Seems like I've seen something on here before or maybe I just googled to find the answer.

HBP - Held by production (as in a lease or mineral rights are held by production)
IP- Initial Production
MO - Mineral Owner
EUR- Estimated Ultimate Recovery

HK- Petrohawk
ECA- Encana
CHK- Chesapeake
HB- Haliburton

IMO (don't know - do you mean UMO - Unleased Mineral owner?)
IMHO - In my humble opinion

Hope this helps.
IMO - In My Opinion?? By the way, I think you get another gold star!!!
Thank you Bobi - you are a valuable asset to GHS - appreciate it. I agree with Les - another gold star.

Shaleeee, here are some that I tend to use:

Mcfd - Thousand cubic feet of gas per day
MMcfd - Million cubic feet of gas per day
Bcfd - Billion cubic feet of gas per day
MMBtu - Million Btu (British Thermal Unit)
BOPD - Barrels of oil per day
TD - Total (well) depth
TVD - True vertical (well) depth
MD - Measured (well) depth
Go to Google
Type in: Glossary of Oil and Gas Terms

Once it comes up there are several listings.
I found that the MMC (Mineral Management Consultants was a really good listing)....However, to some people one of the others may be more informative. I guess it depends on what you are looking for
Thanks Les - that BOPD really had me confused - I am printing these out for future reference. Thank you too Teacher - I will google for info.
Shaleeee,

One of my favorites:

IANAL - I am not a lawyer
