Building on Skip's comments, it is obvious that the Operator ran into some problems while drilling the lateral on #252182 and had to stop short of the original permitted lateral length (which would have put the lateral 500' into Section 27).

I have attached the original permit plus the amended permit - note the plats. The amended permit states that changes to permit were tied to "as drilled" well results.

I have attached the original permit plus the amended permit - note the plats. The amended permit states that changes to permit were tied to "as drilled" well results.

Reasons for terminatng the lateral early are unknown and will most probably never be discussed in filed State / SONRIS reports. Odds are it was a mechanical issue that forced operator to end the hole at that point in order to "save" the hole that they had drilled to that point.

The amended permit shows the end of the lateral being 738' north of the Section 22 / Section 27 boundary.

The operator losing over 1200' of lateral for this well doesn't help them one bit - this shorter lateral will probably reduce overall production by close to 25% of they wouldh have had if they could have achieved the original permit TD / end of lateral.

I understand the disappointment of not getting any cash flow from this well - but the upside may be that in the future, you will see a well that includes the entirety of Section 27 in the productive lateral instead of only a small part of Section 27 (i.e. less than 10% as per the original 252182 permit).
Brian, the short answer is ye…tag:gohaynesvilleshale.com,2021-04-03:2117179:Comment:39795202021-04-03T02:53:08.228ZSkip Peel - Mineral Consultanthttps://gohaynesvilleshale.com/profile/ilandman

Brian, the short answer is yes. For some reason that I didn't find the well name was changed and the lateral was drilled entirely in Section 22. You are correct that the original permit showed it as an HC well to be drilled in sections 22 & 27. The last "take Point" in 22 is almost 1000' from the boundary between 22 and 27. That short of a lateral is usually the result of a mechanical problem either with the drilling of the well bore or with the completion operations.

Skip and Rock Man thank you for the information. It looks like this well has been flowing since late Oct 2020. When I look at the SONRIS map the bottom hole location has changed. It does not show going into section 27 like it did originally. Maybe that is why there has been no contact from Indigo about the production? Could they have changed the well so that Section 27 is not a part of well 252182.

The "perf letter" report should be added to the Well File in the near future.

Brian, yes, the well is "turned to sales" as of the completion date listed. Keep in mind that it can take 6 to 8 months before mineral lessors begin to receive royalty payments on new wells.

Attached is the final directional survey from SONRIS.

Note the end of the lateral (in Section 22) is at 17,933;.

Last perforation was listed at 17,709' - or 224' short of the ultimate TD of this lateral.

Production percentages may be based on last perforation point instead of end of the lateral - which would reduce the Section 22 production share.

I am not familiar how this is normally handled as to production sharing.

Based on Skip's earlier comment, over 90% of the lateral is in Section 27. Final survey details may impact this percentage a bit, but this is close to what the production ratio with Section 22 owners will be.

No way of knowing if well was tied to pipeline when this IP rate was measured. Highly possible that they were just flowing well thru testing unit to get frac fluid unloaded and a test rate established prior to constructing pipeline connection.

Skip the 252182 well has now reported on Sonris and its initial flow rate of 14564MCFD. Can you now see how much of the lateral is in section 27 and section 22? Does this mean it is now flowing into a pipeline?

Until the well is reported complete and the "perf" letter is available in the database, all we have to go on is the well plat filed along with the permit to drill. That plat shows a surface location in Section 15 and the perforated portion of the lateral being approximately 4950' in Section 22 and 500' in Section 27.

Skip do you know how much of the horizontal of S/N 252182 is in section 27 and how much is in 22? Is that ratio how they split the production payments between the two sections? Thanks in advance.
