whats the news on this well

Trinidad Rig 125 spud the Reese 16H #1 on 12/9 and then moved to the McIntosh 15H #1.  The rig reports that it spud the Reese 16H #1 on 12/29 and is 12 days Drilling Ahead on 1/9.

I'm a little confused.

Do you mean the Reese 16H #2  was spud on 12/29?

Nope, although there is always the possibility of a typo in the weekly rig report.  This is not the first instance of a rig drilling two wells simultaneously by moving from one well bore to the other.  Keep in mind that the well bores are on the same pad in close proximity and the rig can move from one to the other without being broken down.  When this occurs the drillers aren't really concerned with the accuracy of the drilling report.  Keep in mind that the rig report is compiled for the industry, not for mineral owners or landmen like me.  The prime purpose is to provide directions to the surface location for field service companies and material deliveries.  Yes, it can be confusing.

So this means a second Reese well was spud? Maybe yes or no?

Thanks Skip. You give so much information and I appreciate all of it.

No, not as far as I can tell.

Trinidad Rig 125 reported 19 days Drilling Ahead, 1/16.

Trinidad Rig 125 reported 26 days Drilling Ahead, 1/23.

Trinidad Rig 125 reported 33 days Drilling Ahead, 1/30.

Trinidad Rig 125 reported 40 days Drilling Ahead, 2/2.
