What is group opinion on the property tax assessments on our producing mineral rights -- is a formal protest worth the time and postage?  Would it likely result in any lowering of the assessment?  Fortunately, most of the $$ do go to the schools and hospital, which is a good thing.

I think it is just like you could sell the land (or your house) for an appraised value and that is what you get taxed on.  Well you can sell your mineral interest too (not recommended) and they appraise that and tax it.  Someone correct me if I'm wrong.  Oh yeah, the government is the one making all the money on this stuff.

How can the county of San Augustine charge you property tax on property you don't own when all you have is royality interest in a well. This is double dipping , the owner of the property has paid the taxes on the property and now they want royality to pay taxes too..DOUBLE DIPPING...

Jffree. They are giving depth clauses no problem. Talk to the landman in San Augustine. Good guy and will work with you. Ben Daniels

I agree with WilliamS... if Devon is leasing it is for the James Lime.  Try asking for a depth clause to reserve the deep rights.  I suggest you use a lawyer for that clause and don't let them provide one.

Mr. Bodine, Marco 1H has been complete since last fall.  IP was 11.232 MMcfd on a 20/64 choke with 8000# flowing pressure.

Spring Branch...

They are the ones drilling in the area. EOG does not have holdings in the area.. Not enough to form units with anyway. Also, this isn't haynesville they are drilling. James Lime is the formation... Everything drilled in the James Lime by Devon has been extremely successful...

Any current word on the progress of Marco (API #405-30453), being drilled by St. Mary from the same pad as Polo, a bit east of Highway 147 on the old Taylor property?

Devon would be the last Operator I would lease to in San Augustine County.  To the best of my memory, the only decent well Devon drilled in San Augustine County, The Kardell 1-H, they ruined by pulling it too hard. They abandoned the Haynesville a good while back.  EOG would be my 1st choice.
