There are those of us that have been leased for years. And have watched as wells in our units were drilled, and then maybe produced for a while and then the checks slowly stopped coming. Or maybe a well was a good one, and we found that the unit lines were changed, (without notice) and we were no longer part of that unit which had a good producing well. At one point a new well was drilled, and it was said, to have high gas pressure. My Mother worked with the landman to help get the local people to agree to a pipeline. While this was happening the well just waited. When the pipeline was completed, and hooked up to the well, nothing happened...they brought in swab crews, work over rigs, but nothing they tried cound get the gas to flow. They said, the gas had moved out of the formation. Several years pasted, I remember my mother calling the TRRC and reporting the only well in our unit, had never produced, and asking them to help us, get the hole plugged. After she got that done, we were free of that lease. For several years no company was interested in this area, and the history of that one well, that did not produce, shadowed every interested prospect. The pipeline that went right thru our 100 acres, was never used from the well it was orriginally built for. However, it was used on down the line. After 25 years or so, a new company hooked into the pipeline that went thru my moms property. Remember there has been no up-keep, nothing all those years. When we heard they were going to put gas thru that pipeline, I called the man that owned it, and he said, it had been in continues use all those years, and that there was nothing we could do. Does that sound right? About 4 years ago, a small group contacted us and wanted to lease. They said, they were going to drill ASAP. We hoped this was good, because it had been a while since there was any interest. I did have a pugh clause attached, to the lease which was mostly a no surface clause to keep them from drilling on our land. A few months later, they sold our lease to Samson and they sent men out to stake a well location. The next time I came to see my mother, (which by now is growing old) and not keeping up with who comes and goes on her land, I see stakes with orange ribbons, in the pasture near the house. I couldn't believe my eyes. A few days later I got a call, from them saying they had plans to build a well site there by my mother house. I said, didn't you see the pugh clause which said, no surface drilling on this property...No he hadn't even looked at the lease. That was the last we heard of them. The whole unit is sitting right smack in the middle of the South Stockman Field, and Samson would not sell to Devon, but has now sold to another company,,,and nothing is happening on that yet. My great great great grandfather, settled on this land back when Sam Houston signed his deed. Wonder what he would think about all this.

Hi Gina,
I am so sorry to hear about your family's problems. I just found the blog section. I don't know why it was not featured. It brings light to so many of the issues that face us all. I hope that this works out to be a blessing to your family in the long run.
