I am leased in Fort Worth. People in Fort Worth are really upset because of the air quality issues. There has been a real change in attitude since the TCEQ made their presentation to city council. The TCEQ made it sound like there was no problem.
How long have they been drilling in Fort Worth? It seems as though they didn't have an issue with air quality as long as the drilling rigs were going full bore and pumping $ into their economy. Why come out with this now? If I were the local's, I would be highly upset with the local official's for over looking this for so many years.
Maybe four years ago they started quietly leasing in the poor parts of Fort Worth for $200 an acre. Maybe two or three years ago they got to the nicer parts of town and started running television ads and signs on the sides of city buses. A year and a half ago they reached an agreement with our neighborhood for $27,500.00 an acre and 23% royalty before expenses. The market dropped out soon after, but our draft cleared. They started by drilling in out of the way locations and no one noticed because the wells were out of sight. In the meantime, some people outside of Fort Worth proper paid for their own air quality tests because they couldn't get TCEQ to pay attention to their concerns. The mayor of Dish started to travel around the area making speeches about the air quality in Dish. By this time they had started to drill in the main parts of Fort Worth. Most people have not received a royalty check yet. I am beginning to wonder if I will ever get another check. Anyway, the TCEQ has not handled the concerns expressed in Fort Wotyh very well. I have posted several articles here on GoHaynesvilleShale fom our local papers you might find interesting.
Hope everything works out for you and others.
