What Range are you in and I will look it up?

CaddoVisitor doesn't know. The Oil & Gas companies do not know how big this so called Haynesville Shale is. I believe that Union Parish along with many more parishes will be named later on. Just look back on how big they originally thought it was. Probably 2-3 years from now all of North Louisiana will be named. Nothing wrong with hoping all of Louisiana will benefit from the Natural Gas boom. Let me know what Range and I will get back to you.

Jaybird,

I own land on sections 29, 32, and 33 of township 23 north, range 1 west in union parish. Do you have any info on this property?
There was a oil well on this property in the mid 1950's.
In that section their are 15 producing gas wells. All are only about 2200 feet deep. Have you heard of the sonris site?
I wish I knew as much as CaddoVisitor does...then we wouldn't need this Haynesville site. But since I don't think that CaddoVisitor knows much about the boundries of the Haynesville Shale...including myself....I am sticking with all of the information that is shrared by all of us who would like to contribute. Caddo, it's nice to see your enthusiasm about the extent of the shale...but it just doesn't work like that in real life. Geology knows no lines on a map...which is exactly my point!

Have a great day,

Jaybird
Looks like this site has made some O&G experts..good luck to all, always hope
Just a note, lease men are fanning out into surrounding parishes and leasing property for resale. At this time, the parishes that are not in the HS play are bringing up to $350 p/a average. Giving the time frame and the amount of drilling rigs avalable, you could take a $350 lease and reserve the depth limitation to exclued the stratrigraphic equivalent of the Haynesville Shale formation. Keep the lease period to three years or less with no extention after the original lease expires. You have to be careful about existing wells in the section when excluing the HS formation because their depth comes into play to determine the depth that is excluded. Taking the lease now in these out lying parishes, if someone offers, is a chance to pocket some cash and still have some cake for later on.
You can google 'gas & oil rig backlog' and spend all day reading about backlog orders that need to be filled. North Louisiana is not the only place these planned rigs are going to. A company in Ok. has a contract to build 12 rigs, but 10 are going to Co. and 2 to New Mexico. There is also a big demand for rigs in the fields of Pa. and WV. One company in Pa. has orders for over a 100 rigs, but they will stay in that area. I just think that the land owners in the surrounding parishes may have to wait 4 to 12 years before the HS comes their way. But, you could get a phone call tomorrow with a offer of $$$$$, it's turning into a game with the landmen. They will lease low now and sell for a profit in two to six months. Sometimes they lose, but sometimes they hit it big. In July, Indigo sold some of their holdings in NW La. for $300 million plus.
If someone calls, be sure to get a real, lease lawyer and try to get together with your neighbors, you can make a better deal.
Thanks from the Union folks for starting the group. No lease offers but have had 3 offers to by family property in past 60 Days and realtor who contacted us said buyer wished to remain confidential. Coincidence or do I smell a corporate buyer..perhaps OG.
I have heard of people being offered $2500 for their total mineral rights, corporate buyers or not, there are a lot of people out there with some money who would like to sink it into North La.
Hi Ray, did you sign a lease agreement with the landman for the 5 year, $175 an acre and the 3 year option?
northofya,

We were recently contacted by Pine Belt for $250 per acre, 20% royalty for 4 years. Have not signed yet.
