Unit Petroleum has picked up 2 year extention options on most of their 3 year leases in J. White, J. Engish, McKey, CL Wharton,  Strickland , and other surveys in NE Shelby near Joaquin that did not have high cost extentions most in the $350 range bonus with  were due to expire in March. CHK on the other hand had a lot of $3000 +range bonus options that they simply let expire in March and I understand plan  same with option due for extention April thru Sept 2011.  The Bossier Shale is lead driver in this area now rather than the Haynesville shale based on the R Hays Dean well IP 8.7 mmcfd in the Bossier. Will be interest to see if any activity occur with the CHK leases that CHK let expire since CHK simple overextend their plate with more acreage than they can drill and has interest else where. If any one had leased with CHK in NE Shelby that expired please post any renewed interest that occurs with your minerals for release.

jiffreel, maybe we could design some protection garb and earn some mailbox money!!!!!

adubu,

Probably didn't explain it well enough.  I will give it another try.

As they were drilling for a TP test the well blew out at 1330 ft, you could smell the oil for 1/4 mile or so, they continued to the TP and thought they had a good gas well after frac (liquid nitrogen in those days) but it fizzled out (the dry hole) and they came back up to 1330 ft. and completed the well as an oiler that produced for abput ten or so years before being plugged and abondened.  There were 8 or so attempts to play off this well with only one or two barely making  it pay.

Hope this helps.

prudhoe bay-- that makes better sense- understand now what you wanted to say-- what's name and location of that well (the oiler at 1330 feet?) that now plugged.

adubu,

It was the McKinney F1 drilled in 1985, it was located in the middle of the eastern half of the N.A. Middleton Survey.  As I said, there have been about 8 or so attempts around it with only one or two that barely made it pay.  These one or two producers were in the extreme western part of the Ann Gray survey.  I am not sure but one of them may still be pumping,  if it is I would imagine no more than a few barrels a month. Just a guess.

If you hear of any leasing in that area of the county please post.

Reply to all concerned,

Sorry to have caused so much consternation. In my original post I was merely stating some information from a well regarded source and asking for input on releasing to Unit or others.  With this new information at hand, I was hoping someone could give me any information on leasing in the area but instead it turned into a tit for tat.

Oh well, I will know better than to ask for or divulge information on this forum again, I suspect others may be silent for fear of the tit for tat.  It sure would be nice if we could all try to listen and help each other out.

My apologies.

I see no apologies required from you, you did not shout.
prudhoe Bay--- I'm  all for divulging  information to help all members with interest or minerals in area of question as long as people don't have a CA signed that's  why I posted the question on this thread to look for info since I have minerals in area SW of Joaquin field that will expire in next two weeks and hope to see success and more  H shale wells drill in this part of Shelby.  Thread discussion have away of getting off subject very easily and end up 100% on different discussion after few pages I have notice on this site so don't let this close your door to posting info please. Think MARG was giving some info she knew about  Classic and the land lock  location of well and was not trying to go tit for tat. You were on subject about Unit Pertroleum leasing. I'm interested in listening to what you know about pads constructions and possible H shale well permit in area please post any follow up you heard. The EPA and protection of woodpeckers can really hurt the mineral owners. Thanks

adubu,

Will do and same from you please. Tit for tat not meant for you.

Prudhoe bay--- interesting check it out--- Classic applied for permit in the N A Middleton Survey yesterday USA Courtney #2 H-- says a TP vertical depth 7800' with Total Depth 12300. So a 3600' lateral.   Very Interesting I never seen a Horizontal TP Well. Something "Fishy"---check it out please and let me know what you find out

Well, I do not even understand the "tit or tat" stuff.  I do not care however.  I know the family who had the last oil well there as she worked for us; they lived on our place and we were all family for many years.  She married the guy across the creek and our families are about fifth    or sixth generations there.  Their well was closed as it was making  seventeen a  day. They had sold the land so I wondered if the surface owner had it closed; wanted too much  damage  or whatever.  No one knew; well was just stopped,  Couple who were getting the proceeds told me themselves.  I  know of a spot just north of there where they found oil at fifteen hundred feet, but the soil was like the chalk soil.  In those days, they did not have the fluids and technology to produce it as the way they would have had to do would not have been cost effective.  Haliburton came and plugged it.  They were just testing, etc.  I also know of a Frederiskburg zone in the area north of there which was not drilled as one operator had the gas lease and another the oil lease and they never had an agreement.  Dealt with it several months, were in agreement, and right at the end had another disagreement so I  suppose the shallow zone will not be drilled---- for this generation . Maybe they can leave it for a worthy cause and hopefully  it will be drilled for that.
