Watching TV with the kids this morning, and nearly upchucked my oatmeal. I was watching I show that in most instances, I find educational for the little ones, then they had their "news" segment. News segment can be found here. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=D8813jtx4H0&list=UU2zSoeg1lyy3u...
I wonder if their producers are simply mis-informed, or intentionally misleading?

term used by those on the extreme political right wing (known as "wingnuts") to describe anyone who disagrees with their bizarre, fascistic world view. Used, despite the fact that it makes absolutely no sense, because they could not come up with a word or phrase as appropriately descriptive as "wingnut."

yea, I dropped a dime and it rolled under the next cubical. The guy over there is a cheap #*!*%^$ and I got tired of arguing with him about picking it up. He called me a moonbat, so I looked it up in my dictionary. I didn't like the definition in my dictionary, so I made up my own.
Geez, this is about minerals or what? While you guys are trading discussions on definitions of words that did not or do not exist and when they came about puzzles me. Well i get bored too. Something to correspond about. Almost as bad as my blog. BTW, I was off in various parts of the world while on extended active duty so was not around for moobats and wingnuts. Later in California, during the first time Brown was Govenor, he was tiltle "moonbean." I guess that is where he got from, moonbat to moonbean. He's back at it again, reelected to Govenor and screwing it up again. But that is another story.
moonbeam is leader of the moonbaticus californicus consortium
Right on. Jerry Brown and California deserve each other. Left that state in 1995. Great place to live, excellent climate, rich soils, good people, terrible government. Moonbeam Brown opposed Proposition 13 until he saw the polls where it was going to pass big time. So a week before the election he swtiched. My property taxes had risen in four years from S450 per year to $1,200 per year, my taxes had exceeded my house payment and interest. Prop 13 rolled my taxes back to $450. At that time, California had a four billion dollar surplus. Moonbeam spent it all.
OK, we'll drift back to the thread....
A Saturday morning kids program about environmental issues was airing, and, dbob was watching along with his children. The producer includes a "news" segment in the show, just in case some adults watch the program with their children (kids don't pay attention to the news). The producer instructed his intern, hey you, find me something so we can burn up 21 seconds of this news bit, then we can get back to the show.
The intern googled "21 second news clips", and the only one to come up was an anti-fracking video created by a large coal company to show at its Christmas party. The intern copied and pasted the video to his girlfriend, who though it was cool. She didn't know a thing about "fracking", but she did like the pretty blue colors of the frack fluids gushing up into the underground water supply.
With a good review from his girlfriend, the intern sent the video to his producer. The producer sent the information to his editor and the fracking video was aired in the news segment, causing dbob to nearly upchuck his oatmeal.
essay, if I worried about the information presented on TV to my grandchildren, I would unplug it. The next things I would take away from them would be their I-phones, computers, books, and electricity. I would make them go outside and use sticks for their entertainment.
That would certainly fix the issue of "childhood obesity" wouldn't it? When I was small (pre-1965) a weekend with Grandad meant "riding" my herd of stick horses and practicing on my tom walkers (stilts). My brother could usually entice me to join a "sword" fight (sticks again) and sometimes we would have wars with human sound effects and "guns" that didn't shoot anything (yep, sticks). Heck, you could even tie a string on one and go fishing. If we got tired of "toy" sticks we could hoe the garden (stick with an implement on the end) or read a book. I'm good with kids and sticks.
TV was a couple of hours of cartoons on Saturday morning (at home only 'cuz Grandad didn't have a TV... wouldn't allow it). Funny... I don't recall feeling deprived.
Shale drilling and lithium extraction are seemingly distinct activities, but there is a growing connection between the two as the world moves towards cleaner energy solutions. While shale drilling primarily targets…

AboutAs exciting as this is, we know that we have a responsibility to do this thing correctly. After all, we want the farm to remain a place where the family can gather for another 80 years and beyond. This site was born out of these desires. Before we started this site, googling "shale' brought up little information. Certainly nothing that was useful as we negotiated a lease. Read More |
