How does one get a permit for a dsposal well in La? Is there a great need for disposal wells? How much does a landowner get paid for having a disposal well on his property? Where in La. do they need disposal wells?

Thanks

iamwhat - I believe the state may obtain primacy even if state's regs ARE NOT as stringent.

• Section 1425 allows a State to obtain primacy from EPA for oil and gas related injection wells, without being required to adopt the complete set of applicable Federal UIC regulations. The State must be able to demonstrate that its existing regulatory program is protecting USDWs without the State regulations being as stringent as Federal rules.
The above is a quote from the 2003 Introduction manual, I didn't make up the part that says "without being as stringent as..." How can they contradict and get away with it by setting the standard for acceptance to be as stringent?
KB, I believe the freshwater aquifer is indicated by the blue highlighted rock in you image
Just right click on and move your mouse over what you would like to respond to and then "copy and paste" that portion in the discussion box at the top of the page. I think you can also hit the perma link button as well which is between the avatar(picture) and the name and time of responce of what you want to reply to. Hope this helps.
You are just misunderstanding what it says, simply stated- waste from drilling = drilling mud (not hazardous, by the way), and waste PRODUCED in any activity other than drilling = production waste (salt water).
Bain,

We have several SDW's on our East Texas holdings... my yearly share (1/16th) per well averages $8.00 per well... so I don't think we will ever get rich from them...
iamwhat - that link isn't working for me. Don't know if anyone else has a problem with it. I get "internet Explorer cannot display this page ..." message. Thanks
Thanks, that's better.
I don't think I understand the answer as to how much a salt water disposal well should pay a landowner on a per barrel basis. Does anyone here know?
I was talking with a friend yesterday that has a salt water disposal well on his property and he said that he was paid about $8,000 last year for it.
