SONRIS Lite reported on 6/25/14 that the Tellus well was TD'd and 5" casing set to 16455' on 5/31/14.

Strangely, though, the Helmerich & Payne Rig #238 was still reported on location at the Tellus site on 6/20/14. I hope we will learn soon what is going on.
Here is the directional survey for the Tellus well, dated 5/31/14, showing the drill path down to the total measured depth of 16455 feet. This also shows that interpolated values had to be used from 12891' to 14254' because of magnetic interference from pipe left in the hole due to mechanical failure.The Office of Conservation signed off on the interpolation in a letter dated 6/25/2014.

SONRIS Lite is reporting completion results today for the Tellus well in the Antioch Field (SMK B RA SUE;BENSON-P 33-28 HC; T22N R5W) and they look pretty impressive:
COMPLETED 7/3/14; GAS; SMACKOVER B; 2854 MCFD; 18/64 CHOKE; 810 bbls 51 GVTY condensate; 610 bbls water; 3557# FP; PERF 11761-16351' MD.
I hope this generates more interest in horizontal drilling in the Upper Smackover.

There appears to be a trend developing among some mid-size independent E&P companies for testing horizontal completions where conventional reservoirs are "tight". Wildhorse has been doing that successfully in Lincoln Parish for some time now with CV/LCV. J-W Operating seems about to attempt the same with CV/LCV in Bossier and DeSoto parishes. Those areas being tested for horizontal development so far have one obvious thing in common - multiple, closely spaced vertical wells. It's certainly not hard science but I think that wherever there are high numbers of economic vertical wells in a section that may be an indication that the reservoir is tight enough to make the added cost of horizontal, multiple stage stimulated wells commercial. It will be interesting to see if that trend continues and finds success across various reservoirs in diverse locations. A number of conventional reservoirs could be candidates - SMK, HA (sand), LCV, CV and HOSS.
Skip, BCEI is the primary operator in the Dorcheat - Macedonia Field (Columbia Cty, AR) exploring /producing from the CV formation with vertical wells spaced as close as 10 acres in T18s - R21w and 5 acres in T18s - R22w. Seems strange to see four (4) christmas trees on one pad. Their field engineers reported that production of the older wells were not adversely effected as the new wells were placed in production; however BCEI's vertical closely spaced well are not as productive as WHR horizontal wells in the Terryville Field of Lincoln Parish, LA. Stands to reason that WHR gets many more perfs per well in the targeted formation than BCEI. Eventhough BCEI is drilling horz in the Wattenberg Field they contend that they get more perfs in the formation per $$$ ,thus they prefer the verticals.
What is the spacing for WHR's horz in any of the fields they are producing from?

I'm not sure that there is a common spacing on the Wildhorse horizontals. And there is a good bit of vnariance by TVD.
The Tellus Benson-Penton 33-28 HC well seems to be holding up well so far. SONRIS Lite shows August production from the unit to be 23580 bbl oil and 87359 MCF of gas. This corresponds to 761 BOPD and 2810 MCFD. This unit also includes 2 stripper wells, but their combined potential is shown by SONRIS Lite to be only 7 BOPD so the lion's share of unit production is coming from the Tellus Benson-Penton well.

There seems to be some sort of reporting error in the September production from the unit in which the Tellus Benson well is located. There are apparently a total of 4 wells in the unit and all show zero production of both oil and gas for September. Also, negative figures are shown for the closing stocks. What is going on here?

Yes, the codes give the names of all the wells in the unit, 2 "Jones" wells and 1 "Lewis" well in addition to the Benson-Penton HC well, but the production from all of these wells for September is reported as zero by SONRIS Lite. However, 20941 bbl of oil are reported sold in September from LUW code 714765, which, with an opening stock of 1415 bbl, results in a closing stock of -19526 bbl. So for some reason it seems the actual production was erroneously just not reported.
I see on SONRIS Lite that the Tellus Benson-Penton well underwent another state potential test on 10/31/14, in which it produced 485 BCPD, 2010 MCFD, and 38 BWPD through an open choke. This represents a 40% decline in condensate production since the first state test, performed on 7/7/14, when it produced 810 BCPD through an 18/64 choke. Let's hope that the decline rate will slow somewhat in the coming months.
