Enbridge says it will proceed with LaCrosse project

TORONTO, May 20 (Reuters) - Enbridge Inc (ENB.TO), Canada's No. 2 pipeline company, said on Wednesday it will go ahead with with development of its LaCrosse natural gas pipeline after getting support for the plan from producers in the burgeoning Haynesville shale region of Texas and Louisiana.

Enbridge said a non-binding open season for the 300-mile (486-kilometer) line had received enough support from producers to warrant further development.

An open season gauges how much gas producers are willing to commit to the line.

The pipeline will transport between 1 billion and 1.8 billion cubic feet per day of natural gas from Carthage, Texas, to Washington Parish, Louisiana.

"Based on the strong indications of shipper support during the non-binding Open Season, we plan to move forward with further development of plans for this important and timely interstate natural gas pipeline," Pat Daniel, Enbridge's chief executive, said in a statement.

Enbridge is also exploring the possibility of extending the pipeline to Florida Gas Transmission's station 10 near Wiggins, Mississippi.

The proposed project is expected to be completed in early 2012 and could interconnect as many as 12 pipelines. The company did not say how much the new line is expected to cost. (Reporting by Julie Gordon; Editing by Frank McGurty)

Greetings!

Does anyone have a sense for how much compensation land owners will be given for the right-of-way easements?

Just received a letter from Enbridge notifying me that they will soon begin environmental and civil surveys. From their map, the pipeline looks like it will cut right through Natchitoches.

since it is an interstate pipeline, they may have right to expropriate. Therefore you may not get as much as you would otherwise.

Have been contacted about expanding an existing pipeline on my property in the Ajax area of Natchitoches Parish. Also know a friend who has been contacted near Spanish Lake where there is no existing pipeline on his property. It looks at that point it goes south on its own.
