Are there any books which can explain the workings of the natural gas industry, and explain everything that a mineral interest owner should know? topics ranging from leases, terms, formulas used to calculate payment etc.

I like this one I found at the Shreveport Broadmoor Library, covers a lot of what you mention:

"Oil and Gas Law" by John S. Lowe

LA 343.007 (in the "Louisiana Collection")

Ken,
Two pretty good ones
1) Nontechnical Guide to Petroleum Geology, Exploration, Drilling, and Production by Norman J. Hyne
2) Money in the Ground by John Orban
Available thru Amazon. You can look them up on there for more details and other similar books.

Its focus is on Arkansas, but many of the same princilples hold true.
