THE GHS HAYNESVILLE SHALE RIG TRACKER. 2023
I'll update each week so we can follow the rig count. I am only counting rigs drilling the Haynesville and Bossier formations. Many industry rig numbers are for the "Haynesville Area", however they may defined that, and includes wells drilling other formations.

Interesting calculation on the wells in that Robertson / Leon County area - due to high pressure, total footage of all casing run assuming 7500' laterals is around 8.5 to 9 miles.
That is a LOT of steel! And Cement! And Cost!
Permalink Reply by Skip Peel - Mineral Consultant on April 17, 2023 at 8:36 The Bald Prairie wells may have come along at a bad time. Still only two wells on the weekly report, Comstock and Aethon. If this was last year, I'd expect a lot more wells in progress.
Permalink Reply by Rock Man on April 17, 2023 at 8:40 Those are the two main players - massive acreage positions.
Gas line hook ups and gathering facility issues have slowed down that play area development.
Gas prices not helping either.
Rumors that there may be a couple of other operators putting together drilling blocks as we speak.

Permalink Reply by Rock Man on April 30, 2023 at 4:47 Plus four rigs in the Robertson / Leon County deep play between Comstock and Aethon
Permalink Reply by Skip Peel - Mineral Consultant on April 30, 2023 at 4:58 What rig tracker is it that has four, Rock Man? My Enverus shows three, 1 Comstock in Leon and 1 Comstock and 1 Aethon in Robertson.
Permalink Reply by Rock Man on April 30, 2023 at 7:30 My ENVERUS Site today (just checked again)
Three in Robertson
Comstock with Nabors X37
Aethon with two Scan rigs (Scan Legacy and Scan Explorer)
One in Leon / Comstock with Nabors X07
Wonder if these two drilling contractors are talking to each other about operations - as well as competing?
Permalink Reply by Skip Peel - Mineral Consultant on April 30, 2023 at 7:36 I'm not surprised that there are glitches in Enverus's data. The three rigs I mention are listed in "Intelligence - Locations & Operators: Week 04-30-2023". I suspect that you got the four from a different Enverus report.
Permalink Reply by Rock Man on April 30, 2023 at 7:47 I gave up trying to understand how ENVERUS is put together a long time ago.
If an ENVERUS person is reading this discussion site, I would recommend that they strive for a little more consistency in what they are putting out there (and charging a lot for).

In researching the decades-old Tuscaloosa Trend and the immense wealth it has generated for many, I find it deeply troubling that this resource-rich formation runs directly beneath one of the poorest communities in North Baton Rouge—near…

AboutAs exciting as this is, we know that we have a responsibility to do this thing correctly. After all, we want the farm to remain a place where the family can gather for another 80 years and beyond. This site was born out of these desires. Before we started this site, googling "shale' brought up little information. Certainly nothing that was useful as we negotiated a lease. Read More |
