VIAJE Oil & Gas, Bossier Parish Activity

As the Bossier forum has not had any postings for a couple of years, I thought I would post this here on the general forum site. Our family has owned for many years mineral interests in Bossier Parish, Section 12, T16N, R12W. During the early years of the Haynesville Shale play, the many wells in this section (and adjoining ones) were steady royalty payers. That ended about 5 years ago and we were under the impression this field had been played out.

To our surprise, last month we received a very attractive buyout offer for our mineral interests in this section, although we have never heard of VIAJE Oil & Gas. We aren't interested in selling but the offer was surprising.  I don't recall receiving any State of Louisiana Office of Conservation letters regarding impending drilling. Any familiar with this operator?

Les, your portion of the Elm  Grove Field is hardly played out and mineral buyers know it.  Of course they are watching very closely where new wells are coming.  It makes sense that mineral buyers wish to get in on first production of new wells because those wells produce something close to 80% of their lifetime production in those first two years.  There is plenty of public record evidence on new wells on the way in your township with six wells drilling now and three live permits to drill.  If you want to know what buyers know, use SONRIS.  Lots of wells there but look for Status Codes 01 and 31.  Viaje O&G is not an operator, they are a mineral company.  Seller Beware!
