Rig in Northern Evangeline Parish (Clearwater community)

I haven’t been on this site in several years due to lack of activity in our area.  But today I was driving through portions of Evangeline Parish (particularly the far northern portion around the community of Clearwater).  Saw a very large rig located just off the West side of Hwy 165.  I drove by the site but couldn’t see any signage with well #, name or anything else.

Does anybody know anything about this activity

There are two rigs in Evangeline Parish.  One is listed as a Wildcat meaning no established field.  The operator is listed as Exxon-Mobil Low Carbon Solutions Onshore - Martin Strat Test #1.  It is a stratigrapic test well for the Frio formation permitted to 6900'.  Spud 12/22/2025.  Looks like Exxon may want to create a carbon storage site if the test is successful.

The other well is operated by Wagner Oil Louisiana located in the Cheneyville West Field, well name WX RA SUA;Crowell Et Al 17 #1.  It is a Wilcox well permitted to 11,250'.  Spud 12/21/2025.

Both rigs are large rated 1500 HP.  The Exxon rig is H&P 431.  The Wagoner rig is Big E #6.

The rig you saw is the Wagner Crowell well.  It is being drilled for the Wilcox formation in the old Cheneyville Field.  Not sure what Wagner sees that others have not.  It must be good to be able to sustain the Crowell royalty and lease form and current oil prices.
