Cheerleadere, Yes... in the discussion forum up above...Drilled or Leased in SA 2009
  • JWC

Noticed 3 new wells permitted in SA County.
One permitted to 15000 ft. 2.3 mi SW of Tavener
One permitted to 8000 ft. 11.5 mi SW of Center
One permitted to 7800 ft. 6.2 mis SE of Aiken.
  • JWC

I don't know where it is either. I was going to ask you. Anyone know where Tavener is in SA County?
  • ALongview

The well is in the NE part of the county. The town?
  • Cheerleader

I think I found Tavener on map quest when the well was permitted.
Is it between Chireno and Denning OR between Chireno and Attoyac?
  • Cheerleader

Alongview; The well is permitted on the C. Holmes Survey, on the NW SA county line.
Where the county line curves down SE and then
straightens and goes south. Common Resources is partnering with Southwest for deep drilling west of Hwy 96.
  • ALongview

My mistake, I meant NW. I am obviously directionaly challenged. I guess that is why I am not out their planning pipelines!
  • Doug Fitzgerald

The Red River 164 near Tavener is at Fountain Town. It is right behind Jerry Fountain's res. drove by and saw the sign it is being drilled by COMMON RESOURCES L.L.C also another new pad just up the road.
  • Cheerleader

Does anyone have any information on the Cowboys well, in the JJ Hennis survey, drilled by Fossil Resources in September 2008. It should be in production by now.

    Shelby County

Samson Lone Star completed Bam Bam Well 1H to 3,290 feet, 12 miles southeast of Shelbyville in Huxley Field. On a 19/64-inch choke, it flowed with 329 barrels of crude. Production is in Fredricksburg.

Cabot Oil & Gas completed three wells in Angie Field. Borders Unit Well 1 hit 12,454 feet and is 10 miles southwest of Center. It potentialed 10.359 million cf of gas on a 64/64-inch choke. Cabot has been doing really well on the Shelby-San Augustine county line.
  • etx44

Southwestern's 5.5 mile long gas gathering line south of the Shelby Co.line & east of HWY 7 is the only line near the 4 new wells to the south of its east end at well #405-30201.
405-30230 is 4.5 miles south finished in Nov. 30246, 30256 & 30254 are 2.5 miles south with one or maybe two rigs onsite now.

Does anyone have any news of a new gathering line to these wells ?

Got this from the Oil Voice Web site: Best news I have heard in a while:

Companies Busy in Shelby County, Texas
Burk Royalty, BP, Encore, Devon, XTO, Noble, Petrohawk, Newfield and others are real busy in Shelby County, Texas. One would have to actually go and drive around to see all of the activity to grasp all of it. Drilling rigs, pipelines, locations and lots of other things that are going on. This is the tip of the iceberg. This play will continue to the deeper part of Shelby, San Augustine and Sabine County, Teaxs.
  • JWC

    More Oil Voice News:
Devon Energy Production Company has completed several wells in the Stockman Field in Shelby County, Texas in the Cotton Valley Haynesville Lime section as per their completion reports with the Texas RRC. The Case #3 well is producing at a rate of more than 18MMCF/Day. It looks like this is going to make Shelby, San Augustine and Sabine counties very attractive for all of the large independents and possibly the majors. This is major gas production for Texas gas wells. Several companies are building locations as fast as they can to get their share of gas from this play. This is exciting.
  • JWC

    One More Oil Voice:
The Haynesville Lime reported production could be possibly producing from the Norphlet formation.Devon Energy Production Company could have possibly fracd into the Norphlet formation in the Case #3 well in the Stockman Cotton Valley field that is producing over 18 mmcf/day. Evidence from a Texaco well that tested 500mcf/day from the Norphlet south west of the Case #3 well in Nacogdoches County, Texas. Several other wells that Devon have producing at exceptional high rates could possibly be from the Norphlet formation as well. We need to know the facts. This is huge for this area of Shelby, San Augustine and Sabine counties in Texas. Hopefully one or more geologist will confirm one way or the other and report the facts.
  • Sandstone

Thanks JWC. I really appreciate you posting this information. It is encouraging. Do you post on the East Texas Board also? I think someone in Shelby Co reported they had been approached by someone wanting to lease their acreage. Shelby, San Augustine and Sabine may all get busy and it would be great if we could coordinate the info.
  • Mike

    JWC,
Thanks for the news. Devon reports on Wednesday with a conference call. It should be interesting.
  • ALongview

Great news. Thanks for the posts.
  • JWC

Thanks j. Good to hear there is some activity in the area. It appears to me most of the activity is north of hwy 21.
  • ogmladvisor

I seriously doubt someone is paying 2k right out of the gate...if it is true, I would like to know who it is. The 5k information on EOG is just flat wrong.
  • ogmladvisor

...unless they are trying to block something up, in which case they might pay a little more. But across the board 5k offers? No way.
  • JWC

Are there landmen still in SA? If so what companies. Seems extremely quiet to me.
  • ALongview

It seems quiet everywhere. I have a question however. In listening to Devon's call the other day, they said that because the high pressure shale pays off fast that it makes no sense to drill it at these prices. On the other hand I have heard others (smaller companies) on their calls say that is precisely the reason they have focused on the shale in 2009 (cash flow issues I assume). How will the larger independents like Devon hold 570,000 acres, most of which are on 3 year leases if the price of gas is expected to hover around 5-6 dollars well into next year? They plan on drilling 12 HS wells in 2009!!! TWELVE!!! Will they then be forced to drill the leases with no options first and then move on to the ones with options? Or, will they just drill the areas they think are best and let the rest go? Any thoughts from others with more experience or knowledge is welcomed and appreciated.

Cabot Oil & Gas Provides Operations Update
Thursday February 12, 6:00 pm ET

"The Company's third initiative was to drill a deep vertical test of the Haynesville section at County Line. This test, the Von Goetz #3 was drilled to a total depth of 13,800 feet through the Haynesville limestone. Excellent shows were encountered throughout the shale and limestone section. Production casing was run and three fracs were performed. The Haynesville limestone, lower Bossier (Haynesville) shale and the middle Bossier shale were all tested. "We are extremely pleased with the results, but with the competitive nature of this play, we will not release specifics at this time," said Dinges. "We do plan to move in a rig and drill a horizontal test to evaluate these zones in the near future."
  • Cheerleader

Will someone please tell me what the perimeters of Cabot's "County Line" are.
  • intrepid

Cheerleader, go to cabot's website and look at the presentation for the Feb 13 conference call. There are some slides on the powerpoint that might give you as good an idea as any about the general area. If anyone has an exact perimenter maybe they will share it.

On the conference call Cabot's CEO said that they are leasing around their County Line acreage. Also said that other E&P's will continue to lease but without the knowledge of actual result from the deep vertical well (Von Goetz #3). Lot's of great info some 21 minutes into the conference call.
A lot of discussion on the CC some 21 minutes into the call.
  • intrepid

Dennis R, thanks for the info on the conference call. Did they mention anything about future drilling nin or near County Line or any parternerships with other O&G's - like BP?
  • DR

BP? hmm.. that would be nice.
  • intrepid

So, no comment on BP in the conference call?
  • DR

Right, no comments about BP on the CC. The Cabot CEO did say that they will drill horizontal wells at County Line in 2009. On Cabot's website a replay of the call is still available.
  • intrepid

Thanks, Dennis R. Do you happen to know how many horizontals Cabot has done?
  • DR

It is my understanding that they have done none so far in either of the three successfully tested zones via their deep vertical test in the area. On the CC the CEO stated that they will look to drill horizontals in one of the three promising zones (Haynesville limestone, lower Bossier (Haynesville) shale and the middle Bossier shale). Cabot did not disclose what zones they are looking to target first or what type of production results they got from either of the three zones. Time will tell what zone they think has the greatest potential. Anyway, overall very positive for the area, imo.

I need contact info for Seitel Data.
Hopefully some one who has had dealings with them will have a direct name & number or email. I never got a letter from them and they have finished on my property N of Denning.
  • intrepid

Interesting that Seitel has already completed operations on your property and you were never contacted by them. What authority did they have to be conducting tests on your property without your permission? They have an office in Center which you could probably get the number for from information. Please let us know what occurs with them and the trespass situation.
  • etx44

I found Seitels agent, they got their permit from SW Energy that I am leased with.

    Intrepid:
Thanks but I was unable to download Cabot's Conference call. I have been under the impression that "County Line" was the Shelby County/San Augustine County line. Is this generally correct?
  • Cheerleader

    Lessor:
What have you heard regarding Cabot's Katherine Von Goetz #3. Can you call your friends "in house" and update us? Thanks

  • Cheerleader

    Thanks Intrepid,
I was able to access the info. I wonder what is happening with Katherine Von Goetz #3.
  • intrepid

Cheerleader, Whatever it is they aren't saying.
  • DR

    To the group,
Is the Katherine Von Goetz #3 the first deep well in SA to drill down to the Bossier/Haynesville shale/lime formations? Based on Cabot's comments & press release it appears that all three zones are productive in the area. Is this well not de-risking a lot of acreage around the SA/Shelby county line? Add to that the James Lime formation and we have quite a play here. What am I missing?
  • intrepid

Dennis, I think you are right on target.
