I am curious about the well that drilling just started this week in North Pike County off of River Road North. I can not seem to find anything about it on the Mississippi Oil and Gas website. Any help is appreciated.
We signed a lease with a company in early March and have been promised our lease payment for almost three months. Is it normal procedure to take this long?
My experience is that once they have all the parties to lease signed up, they are pretty fast. So if some one in your group is dragging their feet, you have to wait. Our leasing company sent us the papers via UPS and we had lease money in about three weeks. But then there are no lagards in our family, everybody wanted the money!
Thanks William...they sent us the paperwork via Fed-X and we did a next day turn around. They originally told us to expect our lease money within three to six weeks, however we're now at 8. This is exactly what I needed to know. Now we can proceed with contacting them again and seeing what the hold-up is.
Correction: The well you were speaking of near N. River Road was permitted to Denbury on 04/20/2012'. From the permitted depth of 2850', do you think it may be a disposal well?
2012-OPD-231 DENBURY ONSHORE, LLC (OIL) WEST LAZY CREEK 15-12 NO. 1 WEST LAZY CREEK 2,850’ 2320’ FSL, 334’ FWL 04/16/2012 Lat.31.31259 Long. -90.39477 23-113-21006-0100 Sec. 15, T4N, R8E Contractor: N/A Size: Unitized (Pike)
Well that is what I thought as well. They are stating that it is not a disposal well. They have rig on site so I guess we will see soon enough. Where did you locate this map?
Map is from:a href="http://gomdot.com/Divisions/IntermodalPlanning/Resources.aspx?Div=OnlineMaps">http://gomdot.com/Divisions/IntermodalPlanning/Resources.aspx?Div=O... >. Go to "Highway Maps" then "County Maps". Do you know how deep they drill for Seismograph explosion?
I believe the well permitted by Denbury in northern Pike county is a part of the Bacot heirs mineral lease in west lazy creek which was leased by Denbury in June , 2011. I have an interest in this permitted well. Currently i supply Frac sand in the eaglford play in texas. interesting to know the north upper side of the eagleford has been big oil and the southern side more gas.watch out Franklin and Lincoln counties. good luck to all involved in mississippi play.
lee, we did sign a lease in may last year with new royalty percentage. one year witu renewal clause. i would assume that is timing compliance by moving in now. Denbury is very capable group, recovery buy injection etc. this was an area or new wells thay extends with spacings of 320 acres on up into lincoln county. they have a jv with encana which provides a lot of old shell well bores already held by production which provides encana less expensive entry into tuscaloosa. this well is not part of that jv. the old little creek and lazy creek fields had shallow wells. in the ragleford and the tuscaloosa they are drilling deep horizontals through old fields studded with pumpjacks. remember, these old fields have large tar sand pools below the shale layers, this is referred to as the buda.17,000 to 18,500. this zone will be the bigger boom. wti needs to be 120 plus per barrel to go in the buda. very hot, pipe bends at that depth but they are test drilling very big wells in buda at this time.
Existing vertical wells are rarely candidates for re-entry for horizontal completions. The casing diameters are not designed for horizontal drilling and the surface locations are seldom in the correct location to orient a horizontal wellbore.
I agree in most cases, but if its 5 1/2 or 7 1/2 casing, we have drilled out rubber plugs and thirty feet of concrete, dropped in either extend a vertical or cut window and go horizontal. Pecos, texas. Also can save hundreds of thousands in cost on verticals in chalk or shallow plays like old shell fields in pike county. They are drilling a lot wells on edges of shale in Eagleford that are not horizontals but produce very well. ITS not all about the shale (swift energy) believe me.
I hand them a signed lease and they hand me a check, or I'll hold the lease until they are prepared to hand me a check. No drafts, and certainly no "we'll mail you a check in a month or so"!!!
The Natchez Democrat has an article dated 3/31/13 stating that the mississippi legislature hopes to have a bill completed in the next few days to entice oil companies to further develop the TMS through tax incentives. session is scheduled to end 4/07. see natchez democrat for further information.
Our companies work in several areas of the Eagleford and have since petrohawk drilled the first wells around Cotulla on 2007. Petrohawk is now BHP. I am from Mississippi (jackson) and have mineral interest in pike county. This field currently produced by Denbury (joint venture Encana partners) Wells in the Eaglford are now completed to fifteen thousand feet in nineteen days.(Talisman) I manage frac sand, barite, guar gum, and water. (wells and lakes) I am on frac jobs quite often. The Tuscaloosa is moving along very well, the play aligns quite similar to the Eagleford and wells appear to have less severe depletition rates to those in Eagleford. Watch the north side of current counties in Mississippi. The upper side is the better side in texas for oil the lower side dry gas. The tuscaloosa will rapidly expand geographicaly as work continues, Franklin county, northern pike etc. The Eagleford took two years to move out the cotulla area and now its booming one hundred miles east. (hang on guys its coming)
Week before last I finalized the leasing of 130 +/- NMA in Township 2 in Wilkinson County. Yesterday I got a call from a landman representing one of the players in the TMS inquiring about some of the minerals I had already leased. I had offered these to him about 6 weeks prior to me leasing them to another group and he was lukewarm in his interest. But yesterday he related that there are several units about to applied for in T2 in Wilkinson county and some in Amite county.
He went on to relate that the cost of the wells is still too high therefore leasing rates and royalties offered were going down. Which I am not sure I believe. I would be very interested in knowing the production rates of the Ash wells and the current production on the Crosby and Horseshoe Hill wells. The only information I can find is outdated by several months.
It seems the TMS runs hot or cold, depending on the week and source, it would likely be helpful if there were more companies drilling but it looks like it is only two for the most part. There is lots of comparison to the Eagle Ford, and many say the wells out there are a lot cheaper. But I wonder if that is truly an accurate comparison given the cost of water out in the EFS. I have heard of folks paying $0.50 a barrel or more for water, some oil field guys I know have said their water costs are extremely high. Given the success of the EFS at the present I can't help but think that is probably one of the main reasons the TMS is developing as slowly as it is.
be assured, oil companys are structured to maximize their operating and business cost. they are not designed to allow you to make extra money ever.oil and gas attorneys who have a history specificaly in shale can help. shale plays eat up your real estate like pac-man, they have to drill lots of wells and put in lots of pumpjacks due to depletition rates on shale wells.lots of roads and multiple well pads, which are large pads covering lots of land.it is big time land drilling and requires close attention to spacings. when these plays catch on from a feasibility perspective they grow extremly fast (these nice, heavily sanded encana wells are a good sign).
in the eagleford we build frac ponds 400' x 400' with 24 mil liners, These are fenced and gated. The well supplys 600 to 1800 gallons per minute depending on horsepower.the area is rolled and compacted with sandsone base(not caliche) the water sells from .45 to .60 per barrel. (42 gallons) water is tested for use in frac. water can be moved by jumpers up to six miles conventially and by adding pumps actually farther. (gets expensive to move over six miles) hope that helps on eagleford water cost. these facilities are usually on leased land and water revenue divided with landowner and operator.
Encana has made some changes in their higher management personnel. We know what the old blood hasn't done, now lets see what the new blood does.
I remember an old toolpusher used to say, " Do something,,, even if its wrong!".
My experience with leasing, several leases, is that I wait until the agent has the check in hand ready to hand it over before I sign. My friend. a small operator, tells of when he and his partners took cash to the lease signings, sometimes a suitcase full.
Members following the MS TMS: The level of drilling has reached the point where it will be impossible to keep all current discussions on a single group page. The time has come to organize by county. I have created an Amite County Group which is awaiting approval by Keith. As soon as it is active I will begin posting well discussions by county. With Keith's help, and yours, I will try to get discussions reorganized ASAP as development is accelerating quickly and we need to get ready to accommodate the increased traffic. Good Luck to all members with an interest in the MS TMS. We always need new members so please spread the word about GHS. And please remember that donations help fund the website.

HOUSTON , Sept. 2, 2014 /PRNewswire/ -- Goodrich Petroleum Corporation (NYSE: GDP) today announced the completion of its Denkmann 33-28H-2 (75% WI) well in Amite County, Mississippi . The well, which was drilled with an approximate 6,000 foot lateral and was fracked with 22 stages, has achieved a peak 24-hour average production rate to date of approximately 1,250 barrels of oil equivalent ("BOE") per day, comprised of 1,200 barrels of oil and 300 Mcf of gas on a 16/64 inch choke.
The Company has also commenced flowback on its Bates 25-24H-1 (98% WI) well in Amite County, Mississippi , an approximate 5,000 foot lateral with 19 frac stages, and is currently fracking its CMR/ Foster Creek 31-22H-1 (90% WI) well in Wilkinson County, Mississippi , which has an approximate 6,700 foot lateral with 24 planned frac stages. The Company has also drilled and is in completion phase on its CMR/ Foster Creek 24-13H-1 (97% WI) well in Wilkinson County, Mississippi , which has an approximate 6,600 foot lateral, and its Spears 31-6H-1 (77% WI) well in Amite County, Mississippi , which has an approximate 7,600 foot lateral.
The Company currently has three rigs running in the play and is conducting drilling operations on its Verberne 5H-1 (66% WI) and Williams 46H-1 (61% WI) wells offsetting its Blades 33H-1 (67% WI) well in Tangipahoa Parish, Louisiana , and its CMR/ Foster Creek 8H-1 (79% WI) well in Wilkinson County, Mississippi , which is planned for a two well pad offsetting the Company's Crosby 12H-1 (50% WI) well.
The Company has in excess of 300,000 net acres in the play.
The choke setting is actually about average. As compared to recent GDP wells it is a little tighter. The Nunnery was 17/64 and the Beech Grove 94H was 19/64. It should be held in mind that these one sixty-fourths of an inch differences are quite small. A wide open choke, 64/64, is a one inch aperture. Sixteen sixty-fourths is a quarter inch. Pretty darn small for 1200 barrels of oil to flow through in a 24 hour period. Do the math and then realize that the oil is likely not all that is flowing through that quarter inch hole as the well continues to clean up.
