All things about Austin Chalk in Louisiana: Horizontal drilling, improved seismic testing, and liner casing are offering hope for the deep minerals in the Austin Chalk which runs from Austin, Texas through parts of Louisiana to Biloxi Mississippi.
Yes, that Continental Resources. Partial sections 17-20, 3N - 11W. Just east of the South Toledo Bend State Park, Toro Road area.

Assuming that Continental will be chasing Austin Chalk here with a horizontal / frac stimulation effort.
Note the well noted on SE part of the plat (Swift Sonat horizontal). Drilled and "completed" in 1992. Swift got the lateral to TD (about a 4000' lateral in the AC) after having to abandon original lateral. At TD, Sonal took over operations .
A frac was attempted on the lateral (in slotted liner). Well only IP'd 50 BO & 270 MCF per day from the entire lateral. Well only produced about 900 BO before being abandoned. This was called North Haddens Field.
I attached the hand written scout card for this well. No idea what this cost but it was a LOT.
For their sake, I hope that Continental has some good data to support this effort - not a lot of well control here to support AC matrix porosity play.

Can anyone explain what all of this means? I was able to find it on Sonris, but I don't understand it except it looks like they now have a permit to frac. Thanks.

Thanks Skip and Rock Man for explaining the well report in layman's terms. I did note the 49' issue but thought that was in reference to the nearby well drilled decades ago. Very interesting insight to the drilling process, their complications and plan B sidetrack. I could never have deciphered that from the report. Good point with your concern about fracking so close to the open lateral. We'll see what the future brings. Thanks again Professor!
