Fusilier is and has always been Quite the Character in big VP...

  • William C. Morrison

Yes, I know Wendell (I knew him as Joffery) was a character.  He was a fraternity brother of mine at LSU.  Yvie Poret lives in Baton Rouge but I have not heard from him in a long time.  Yvie was a retired Lt Col from the USAF, I saw him at Andrews AFB, Washington D.C. about a month before he retired.  I was on the promotion list for Full Colonel and ended up serving five more years of active duty.  He and his bride went home to Louisiana while I trucked on to Europe again and then back to California.  Man, that was a long time ago as I have been retired now for 14 years and retired from the USAF for 28 years.  Tempus Fugit - Time Flies!

Thx for posting Jay,  I know exactly where that unit will be just off Hwy 167 north of turkey creek.  Don’t see any depths on application, can’t wait to see permit on depth and lateral.  HC

The Crowell well also tested over 2000 BW per day from the two laterals that were drilled. No fracture stimulation noted some assuming natural fractures were the source of production / water.

Well technically produced 550 BO in two months - figure water was to extreme to keep well going.

Based on looking at the logs, I would anticipate the target interval for any horizontal (and subsequent stimulation) to be equivalent to the Basal AC section in the Crowell wells from 14,400 to 14,600 TVD

So the well wont be permitted and posted on Sonris until after the application hearing on August 21st?

  • CenturyMan

I saw yesterday in the Alexandria Town Talk legals - Southwind applied for a drilling permit - Masters Creek Field AUS C RA SU76.

    (1) Has anyone seen a unit plat on this?

(2j Or is it possible that the paper made a typo, and is it a drilling permit in the same unit application that Jay posted on 7/16 below (AUS C RA SU79)?

  • CenturyMan

I’m thinking these are not the same.  The unit app that Jay posted SU79 is in Evangeline Parish. The drilling permit in the paper SU76 is listed as Rapides Parish.

Not a typo.  Southwind has two pending unit applications in the Masters Creek Field, AUS C RA SU76 and AUS C RA SU79.

  • CenturyMan

Thanks Skip.  Any chance you have access to the plat for SU76

  • CenturyMan

I have that one.  Looking for SU76

  • Skip Peel - Mineral Consultant

Maybe you should invest some time in learning how to look them up in the database?

Thanks Skip.  You are right, I’ve spent a little time in there, but haven’t got very far.  Just need to make it a priority.

You're welcome.  A little time is all it takes.

Well Jay ,  i guess someone should alert/educate the Geologist/engineers with Marathon.  Its their unit application.   We are just along for the ride!

  • Rock Man

A review of deep Tx, La and Miss O&G production shows a LOT of O&G molecules living and being produced at these depths. The pressures result in more O&G being crammed into the pore space.

  • Rock Man

Jay, please tell me what you are looking at in the offset logs? Is it low porosity in the AC section? Curious what you are referring to. Thanks

  • Rock Man

Jay, did some quick checking of BHT's on log headers. Max I see is 330 degrees F at 18,000' based on a limited number of wells. I will agree that "black oil" will not be around at these temps after it has been cracked and broken down to gas molecules, but condensate and NGL's can be presence with associated host gas at these temps.

There is a reason logging companies like SLB and Halliburton have "hot hole" tools to do open hole work in temperatures greater than 350 degrees F.

Thx for all the seasoned info guys!  All involved in the Miller Estate know very well we are a deep, hot, Longshot!  And with that being said , we are still so very grateful that Mr. Dewey Stringer has afforded us some excitement and opportunity with the team he has put together!
