Be glad you didnt sign with Mr Moreau. We did around the 4 of June. He left our house quickly and did not leave us a contract. He said we would get a check from Chesapeake in 3 weeks. Called him 4 weeks later. He was very evasive. 6 weeks later got a check from chesapeake via ups and a copy of the contract via us mail. Amount of the check was correct, but on my copy of the contract it said 100.00 per acre. Very unethical, didnt he didnt file it at the courthouse for weeks. My husband mailed the check back to Chesapeake. Im not sure what will happen , but at least chesapeake will know some how unethical some of the land men representing them are. We will see.
As for your situation, since you have not signed and there is a rig , are you force pooled?
"Soupbone"--I was trying to keep a low profile, but you figured me out--Aren't you the clever one. These are interesting times, I never thought that I would be using the terms "Boom Town" and P. Hill in the same sentence. Drop me a line sometimes---for I am the phillkid@earthlink.net
I leased my 120 acres three years ago for $100 per like everybody else around there (except duchesne).....He is sitting pretty...still waiting...but its looking good to say the least..........he will still have all but about $5.00 of it when he dies............young kt
What is the name of the well in your back yard.......that is a pretty long horizontal section.....if its all in the HS we might be seeing it on the news...(you hope so ..anyway!!).
No news from ken yet....so I don't think he has signed yet..
My land has a 2 yr. extension for $25 per acre yes you read that right 100 quarters per acre.. We also have 3.19 acres up here in stonewall...same deal....
This will be the longest 27 months known to mankind.
I found your little brother....he is in natchtioches... and looks good...and is part owner of the cotton seed mill..(by nsu)...he is working there everyday tearing down the plant and selling the scrap....copper, bricks, iron...augers...pipe etc...
He says its a gold mine....they bought it at an auction for a few thousand dollars...and have made several times that already.......He was upbeat and his old self and talked to me like I didn't know he probably had a pretty rough last few years.......KT
Hey man, it's good to hear from you this morning. The well they are drilling outback is the Nelson 18-H-1, it is owned by the John Nelson family, which everyone around here and probably down your way too knows. They are just regular country folks but at one time the family owned almost all of section 18, and still own a large part of it. They apparently leased a couple of years ago and Chesapeake bought the lease from some smaller company and jumped on drilling since it JUST HAPPENED to be right in the middle of this thing. They got off cheap on upfront money but the family will no doubt be richer soon. I thought the over 6000 ft sounded like a long horizontal too, but in their recent webcast, the CEO of CHK said they have already discovered that longer is better in the HS and that they will go several thousand feet in all future wells and will frac at least 6, 8 or mores areas in each well; according to their stats this increases the well's production from 4-5 mcf to 12-16 mcf in EVERY well they tried it in so far, so I say shoot on man.
I know there are alot of folks all over N.LA that did just like you, and I probably would have to at the time if I would have had more land because 100-200 was the normal going price, but fret not, just look around on this site at some of the calculations some of the oilmen on here have made and you'll see that the royalties will catch you up on what you missed on the bonus. One guy figured at just 4 mcf and & 8.50 a mcf and I think 20% for just 1 acre and it came to $12.50 per day, then times 365, so with most of these wells projected at 3-4 times that daily, it'll add up. Then times your 120 acres, and also CHK said that they will be drilling 8 wells to a section, so then times 8, and you can get rich quick! I put it to a calculator and it was unbelieveable.
I'm glad to hear that Jeff is OK, I would like to be able to hear from him and see him and he has a beautiful neice that just got married who had NO family members at her wedding that would like to hear from him too. Man, mine and his and HD's situation has just got sadder and worse over the years and I try to not let it bother me, but it's hard not to at times. I know mama would be devestated by it all but I can't do much to change them, I go to church 3 times a week and serve as an usher and work hard and try to live right and I pray for them daily but the Word says to love and try to help your brother but if they refuse to accept and choose to be ignorant, then let them be ignorant, but don't let it stop you from believing and serving and that is what I have to try to do.
Take care, I have to head to work, I'll check in later.
Rick, six week's ago land was going from 10 to 15,000 and then shell all but quit bidding and shell got stingy. shell is submitting units but i don't know of anyone getting offer's right now. I think i know why and it'll be back....going to take a while though!
Rick,
I don't live in the area, I only own land there. My property is at Sabine Natchitoches parish line on Hwy 120.
The last I heard was the gas companies were not leasing any more. I believe it was just a way to stop some of the locals from fliping the leases.
I'm having a hard time myself finding information in my area. I understand they might be planing to drill in my section but I have no idea how to find out.
Rick,
They took down the drilling rig of Nelson 18. Now it looks like they are putting in another rig in that section.
Do you have any scuttlebutt on that?
