Marley, do you remember the name of the geologist that you spoke with and the name, (if any) of the formation that may be in NW Winn? Thanks,, Woody

    Hi Marley,
I went out to the well site about a week ago to try to get some info. There was no sign up at the site so I spoke to a man not too far down the road and he had no info but gave me a mans phone number that he said would know but it was a dead end, divorce and phone shut off. The man I spoke with said that he had been contacted by a land man. I spoke with another man that has land around where hwy 126 and 505 cross, and he said that a land man from Chesapeake offered him $400.00 per. ac. and 3/16. I am sure that the offers will be like; we don't believe you are in the Shale, but we may still be interested. If I can be of any further help just let me know.

Hey Marley, I checked out the SONRIS site and found the well on the Big Pipeline. 24-13N-4W. It was drilled to 6700 ft code 32(dry hole) and as of 6/10/08 was sheduled to be plugged and abandoned, but oddly it didn't show it being plugged. So I don't know. Most of the wells show a completion date to P&A, but this one does not. I haven't been down there in a while so I might go check it out when the rain clears.

    Hello Marley,

Have not leased any of my Winn property. Am going to hold off until it becomes more clear what we have here. I do believe it to be very good.

    Marley,
I have not heard anything new. What have you heard, why do you think Winn is now included?
  • James

    Hi Marley,
I saw that article in Advocate too, I don't know if that is based upon any new information. The map which was published by the Shreveport Times about 6-7 weeks ago depicted the NE section of Winn included in the HS. If you have not seen it, take a look. http://www.gohaynesvilleshale.com/photo/photo/show?id=2117179%3APhoto%3A35023
It was based upon what I think is incomplete information from the LA mineral board. Looks to me as if they used existing wells to draw their lines. My feeling is that the seismic results from the recent tests in NW Winn and the production of the Messenger well in Natchitoches Parish will be our next indications. Let's keep our fingers crossed!
  • James

    Marley,
The Messenger well is SOUTH of us and further EAST than any Haynesville well to date. They drilled it to a depth of over 14,000 ft. which is a good indication of the depth of the HS in Winn. The well near Dodson was drilled by a very small company out of Bossier City only to a depth of 6900 ft. These HS wells require much more resources than this company has. It is listed on the Louisiana sonris site as "plug and abandon" I just don't think that well has anything to do with the HS.
I have a house in Winnfield and spend some of my time there.

Yes, he seemed very confident, as do I, about the shale formation extending into Winn Parish. I believe it may end up going further than that. But mainly we will know more when the seismograph results, currently being conducted, are completed.
  • Lee Wise

You bet, I'll post anything I hear regarding our area. Please do the same. Thanks for the info on the current survey time line, I guess we will just have to be patient.

No Ma'am there has not been any new information lately. Kind of quite, and probably will be for a while. The seismic survey is still in progress in this area. The ground crew that cuts the lanes for the geophone cables are in northwest Winn Parish, they cut the lanes on our property three weeks ago. The crew that are laying out the geophones and collecting the seismic blast data are about 10 miles to our west in Natchitoches parish. From what little I know it will be approximately 6 months after that do the blasting to process the data collected. It seems like everything has stopped, awful quite lately, but we will just have to be patient. I'll try to post anything new as it happens.
