I am in the real estate business and live in Marthaville on our old home place. What did you do in Shreveport?
  • AnnaBelle

Thank you Cottontop---look forward to hearing from you.

Yeah, I thought about giving KB a little grief but she was so down about missing us that I took pity on her. I never figured her for a shy type. I thought she would just walk right up to everybody in sight and ask if they were shalers. Next time, we'll put some one else in charge. Have a good weekend.

Just a little frost around the edges. Really this is my favorite time of the year. I will spend Friday thru Sunday in the Ouachitas. A leaf peeping photo safari. Maybe some fishing. Probably hauling some fire wood. I have not heard from Haynesville since the first of the week and sent him another email today. I suggested starting the new group page Monday. I have not heard from my E. Texas contact who may also participate. Sent her another email today. I will let you know when I hear from H. I will monitor the new group and try to keep it flowing. Help get the word around. As long as bonuses are stunted and the economy is down, I doubt that there will be a lot of work but who really knows. If things pick up and we have made some name for ourselves among the members, next year might be interesting. Skip

    Hey Rookie Shaler,
    Thanks for your endorsement yesterday.
  • Dorcheated A1

    Well thank you,
I can't go much further or I'll be in a different social status. You green horns just grab on to my coat tail and I'll take you through this maze.
  • Dorcheated A1

Well you just might my friend, but I want you to know it took a lot of hard fought battles to make it to the Elite Status, it doesn't come easy so do not give up if it doesn't happen quickly.
  • Louzanne

Why thank you very much my dear. Been wondering how you've been, then I read you lost your job. So sorry. But you are a sharp cookie and I know it won't be for long. By the way, I couldn't resist the political forum....I just couldn't keep silent. =:).
  • Louzanne

Thanks, we are fine. Just covered up with "stuff". Finally got our bonus money tho. They still owe us for 3 acres, but our lawyer is working on that. I think they want the interest instead of us ;). Keep me posted on what is happening with you. I wish you the very best in your job search.
  • Dorcheated A1

P.S. Why don't you just trap that ole critter it's a lot easier.
  • Dorcheated A1

Goodness me, do I see a little temper I like that. Just shoot some Barcadi bottles after you drink them you feel better or you'll be to drunk to know.
I did learn that from that Playboy I belive it was the May, 1982 edition.
  • Dorcheated A1

You go on have two, but that's it save some for tomorrow.
    Have a good evening.
  • Skip Peel - Mineral Consultant

Nope. To the chat. Don't do politics on GHS. Not good for business but also not something that I care to discuss in any social network environment. Oh, I look in occasionally when I see a lot of activity but it's usually just Mooncookie antagonizing some rabid conservatives. She likes to kick their cage just to hear them growl. Things can get nasty. Much better to limit discussions to the Shale.
  • Dorcheated A1

  • Dorcheated A1

    Cottontop,
I guess if I didn't ask for hard time I'd be crying. But I enjoy getting hassled it makes the day go by fast.
  • Dorcheated A1

Oh, you little devil don't forget I still lurk around here. I'm gonna get you for that one my little Razorback friend.
  • Dorcheated A1

    Hello Cottentopper,
My back is 100% thanks for asking. I hope you and your family have a very Merry Christmas as well. Don't be a stranger.
  • Skip Peel - Mineral Consultant

Cathy, I was not aware that you had time for bowling. I'm not much of a bowler and have all I can handle on my plate presently. I'd rather get together and discuss business opportunities the next time you are in town or passing through. Julie and I will be spending a day doing a little prospecting in E. TX. next week.
  • Dorcheated A1

Well, thank you Cottontopper. I do appreciate that.
Let me know when it's your birthday.
  • Dorcheated A1

I would lie but it's already posted on my page. I'm 45 but I'm still in decent shape.
  • Dorcheated A1

Oh, and I put that date down on the calender. Happy belated birthday.
  • Bobi Carr ("parker")

    Cottontop,

I'm sorry to hear about your loss.

I look forward to meeting you in the future.
  • Dorcheated A1

How are you doing? are you ok, and how is your friend doing.
  • Dorcheated A1

You know we are all here if you need something. Tell her we are praying for her and her family. Sounds like the poor woman has her hands full.
  • Dorcheated A1

You did miss a good time. Everybody was great, it just ended too quick.
Don't worry about any money. I wouldn't take it if you sent it anyway.
You just show up at the next one and buy me a beer.
  • Skip Peel - Mineral Consultant

Thank for the kind words, Cathy. It is gratifying to know that many members appreciate my participation on the site. And tends to make up for those who do not! LOL! I'll be in town for the next three weeks so you pick the lunch date. Regards, Skip
  • Skip Peel - Mineral Consultant

Cathy. Hey, I resemble that remark! Ha! Can't Tuesday. And I'm waiting on a call from an a/c installer for an appointment. Should be Tuesday AM or sometime Wednesday. Check back with me the first of the week. Have a good weekend.
  • Bobi Carr ("parker")

    Hey Cottontop,

good morning CottonTop. The shop is Shreveport Trading Company Antiques. It is located at 205 E. King's Highway in Shreveport. It is housed in the building that once was Sooto Records Shop. It is not my shop but a very good friend of mine. There are 18 dealers in the store so you are sure to find something that you will like!

I wanted to say how sorry I am to hear about your son. I used to know a very elderly lady in Ruston who once told me the hardest thing on earth is to outlive a child and I'm sure that's true.

My thoughts and prayers are with you and your family.

    Cathy,

On the 4th of July, the apparently healthy son of a friend of mine went to see his mother here in Shreveport. They were sitting on a sofa, visiting like we all do, when Richard grabbed his chest and collapsed - he died of a massive heart attack in his mother's arms. None of us have any idea how fragile life really is, do we?

I have one daughter who is also my best friend. I don't know that I could survive if something happened to her. Maybe I could, maybe I have more faith and courage than I'm aware of but I know my heart would be totally broken.

Grief is definitely the price we pay for love.

Please know that you're in my prayers.

    Ann

I've, thought about you often. It's only been 29 years, but every time I work on a tract in Panola County that involves a Trexco Partnership, I think about all the crew we worked with at Transcontinental. I spoke with Fran Bailey about 15 years ago when she was with Sklar working for Gus Erickson. I sure would like to take you to lunch sometime. Great to hear from you. My cell # is 409-789-7921. Where is Ryan these days. Heard that Phil Isreal died several years ago.
  • Bobi Carr ("parker")

    Hi Cathy,

Haven't seen you on GHS in a while and just wanted to drop in and say hi.
