Nothing. We live North We was suppose to get money from Encana on October 25 and still have not today they said that they would lease it for $500 instead of $5000. So have you heard anything any different? We sign our papers August 20th.
  • william

Hey our property is on 705 south of 103 where is yours?
  • jffree1

Hey Shelly, Not a lot goin on except that we have our first well permit in Sabine in nearly two years. It's not a HS well (8K') but at least it's new activity. It's about time for me to go check on Devon in Hemphill. I haven't checked in with them since before Thanksgiving. I'll let you know if they say anything interesting. J.
  • william

we leased early for only 500 an acre, we are about 8 miles south of 103 on 705

    Hey Shelley,
I haven't visited the website in a while. How's everthing with you and the family? I'll be in Huntsville after Christmas for few days to visit my family. I hope to be able to help my sister figure out what we really own in SA County. I assume everyting is shut down for the year. Do you think leasing will start back in January? Thanks for checking in.
I hope you have a very Merry Christmas!
    Take care,
    Bud
  • arklatex

Thanks. Are they leasing now or just wrapping up things for '08.?
  • Lawrence Edwards

    Shelley,
Thanks for your offer of assistance. Prayerfully everything will pick up after the first of the year and I will be able to fully research the situation.
  • farmbrad

Shelley, We are doing fine down in Angleton. We got a little snow last night! Work has gotten crazy of late. The company I work for laid off 4000 people for the next three weeks. I get to stay & try to keep things afloat with limited labor resources. In this economic downturn, many folks are having a rough go of it. We have been truly blessed! Hopefully, 2009 will bring with it a more stable economy. Merry Christmas to you & yours! Tim
  • Gone Fishin

ho ho ho merry christmas. Not sure where your property is but got news last night that the well nearest us is blowing a huge blue flame which is supposed to be good. Hope santa doesnt catch fire while flying over on his way to our house. haha
  • intrepid

Thanks for the greetings, Shelley! We also hope you and yours have a Merry Christmas and a very Happy New Year!

Hey Shelly, Thanks for the comment. I am new to the site but trying to learn as much as I can about this shale stuff. Merry Christmas and have a Blessed New Year!

Hey Shelley. Glad to hear your Dad is doing good. I know he was glad to get out of twin lakes. Mrs. Bobbitt is still in twin lakes. She has not been responding very well. We are hoping the rehab will do her some good. We will just have to wait and see. They seem to be taking real good care of her there. Not long till the first of the year. Looking for things to pick up in SA. Thanks for asking about Mrs. Bobbitt. You take care.

    Jimmy
  • JWC

Hey Shelley. Janelles mom is about the same. Thanks for asking. We were there during the week last week. Things are still pretty busy in town. Lot of companies still in town. Hoping things will pick up by the end of the month. Take care and let me know if you hear anything.
  • ALongview

I haven't heard a thing lately. Time to make a few calls I guess. If I hear anything I will be sure to share.
  • jffree1

Hey Shelly. I haven't heard a thing since the well permit up by Patroon. I meant to go to Hemphill this week to see what's shakin' with the O&Gs but it didn't happen. I'll put it on the top of the list for next week. JF
  • jffree1

Shelly, Crimson moved out of Sabine Co. back before Thanksgiving. Must have budget woes... It's a new year and everything is in flux. Don't expect much until after the new Prez. gets sworn in. The financial picture is pretty ugly right now. It may take awhile for things to get sorted out. I expect most of the O&Gs are working on a much constrained budget for the 1st Qtr.

I am ok I guess Check your mail!!!

thans so mu;ch for the happy birthday wish
  • jffree1

Interesting comments by Farmbrad, Shelly. Don't worry, I never log off either, LOL. Just easier that way.
  • jffree1

Did you ever locate that Red River well? I think they may have screwed something up on the permit, maybe. Not sure it's even in SA County.
  • JWC

Yeah I am trying to figure out what is going on in SA too. The last time I was there about a week ago Encana, Devon and Crimson for sure still had an office there. Would be nice to know when they are going to continue leasing. Hopefully soon...but they are probably waiting for the economy to get turned around...we could be in for a wait.. take care...keep us informed when you can..
  • ALongview

I hear all will be quiet in Sabine County until the market turns for gas but that leasing will still be going on slowly on San Augustine County. How slowly, only the companies themselves know for sure. My concern will be how do they get to all that acreage if they wait another year to move forward? Does that mean the O & G's will try to renegotiate down instead of exercising options on leases at the original lease rate?
  • JWC

It's just hard to tell what the O&G comanies are going to do right now. I think they are looking for a sign that the economy is going to pick up. Until then they are going to move very cautiously. Janelles mother is still in twin lakes. She had a set back last week and spent a couple of days in the SA Hospital. She pulled thru and is now back at twin lakes. We will probably go see her next weekend. Thanks for asking. Let's hope things pick up soon in SA.....
  • jffree1

Shelly, The prices Cheerleader is quoting are actual bonus amounts paid LAST SUMMER. Devon Energy came in with an initial offer of 5000/acre, same as in SA Co., knocking all of the small independents out of the game for the remainder of the year.
17K was paid for a large lease (upwards of 3000 acres) in the upper end of Sabine but I think that it had a longer than normal primary term.

  • JWC

Hey Shelley. Mrs bobbitt is about the same. Sometimes she knows us and sometimes she doesn't. We are going back to see her this weekend. Thanks for asking. Have a good day.

You can't take off for cloths unless they are things he COULDN'T wear anywhere else (not wouldn't want to but couldn't, as is against company rules). You can take off safety boots if they are required wear. Meals are only if he is out of town overnight unless it is a business function. So if he has to stop and get lunch on the road, no, but if he takes a client to dinner yes.
As for other expenses, I would recommend that you download the small business book from the IRS website, link below. There are a ton of things he can take off. This is assuming he is self employed or paid on a 1099MISC. If he is paid on a W2 and has business expenses download the employee business expense book, link below.
Let me know if there is anything else I can do to help.

Shelly, I haven't been keeping up lately.. Very busyat the moment. FM 1277 is FarmBrad's neighborhood, I think. Maybe he'll know about that area. Sorry, I'm no help on this one.
No news for Sabine County. A few landmen coming in from offices in San Augustine. Devon didn't budget any money for Sabine County in 2009. It will take a lot of improvement in the financial/credit picture to see them back again this year.

  • jffree1

HI Shelly, Sorry it's taken so long to get back to you. I am just really busy right now. I don't know about that 1277 well. It could be that it got put on hold. Lots of stuff got shuffled to the back burner at the end of the year. I do know I was in the Co. Clerk's office in San Augustine on Wednesday and the place was packed. If I get to go back next week I'll look through the day book and see who's filing what.
  • farmbrad

No news here, Jay contacted me to insure we got paid. All is well...we're kinda glad there's no drilling while gas prices are down. Hopefully things will pick up next year.... Thanks for checking in, later, Tim
  • Sarah

You have a good weekend too! Your family is precious. Loved the pics.
  • jffree1

Shelly, I read the note on Encana's door when I was in town Friday. It just said that they would be back on Monday, Feb. 23 (today). Haven't been to see if they are back.
  • jffree1

Hey Shelly. Girl, it is DEAD around here. I was in Hemphill CH today and there were two O&G landmen, and a couple of girls working on delinquent tax properties. The landmen had driven down from Longview. Don't know who they work for though and they weren't sayin'.
  • farmbrad

Hey Shelly, yea things are dead right now as far as oil & gas. I'm catching up on spring chores. I'm building a cedar privacy fence. Bought to kill myself. I just bought a boat to fish offshore. I'm getting ready for R&R, I hope! Thanks for checking in....
