Now, if six little old ladies would have soaped me up. I would have said hey Grandma don't you have some cookies to bake you might hurt yourself soaking the rock hard muscles of mine up.But the girl's in the picture I could live with that until my wife walked up.
One time I went to a football and was drinking real heavy,earlier in the day I had some spaghetti and meatballs that didn't agree with me.If you would of have given me a white plate it probably would have come pretty close to that.
Thank you Antsu, I have to love them because my wife loves them more then she loves me. If I suck up to the dogs it keeps me in good with her so I put the little devils pictures on my page in hopes that I will get some brownie points.(LOL) After 20 years together , she sees right through my stuff. Have a good day.
P.S. I really have enjoyed your posts. Keep up the good work.
That did make my day, and OOOOOOH what a day indeed!
I also love the post I read from you recently and think what you're doin is great and should be enjoyable as it is compatible with your 'essence'
After I untangle some things and finish this semester ....and the real estate market gets real again, I'm hoping to expand urban gardens through brown-field remediation... if not feasible there are several others to take its place. Then there is the opportunity of the new era in govt. where hopefully I can take advantage of that 2 yr civil service for help with paying my student loans..... that would be a godsend! Keep me posted on your endeavor...
Just wanted to let you know that I read your post in "what will you do in the next 4 years". Great post. I tried to reply but it kept going to the wrong spot.
I don't think we know anyone in those sections. We are focused mostly on Southwest Shreveport. But if I run across anyone in there, I will send them your way! Thanks!
Just dropping by to say hello. Have one "shale" of a day. Also, there some new profile questions. Check those out by clicking HERE. We are also coming up on our 10,000th member. Be sure to celebrate with me. Click HERE for more about that.
Antsu - You guys must be just winding down for the evening over there. I visited Japan yeeeaaarrrrss ago as a child when my dad was stationed on Guam. I hope it's still as pretty as it was then. Must be seeing cherry blossoms about now.
The weekend's off to a great start ... good weather, last big Shreveport Mardi Gras parade. You can check it out at ktbs.com.
Antsu - eeeeeoooonnnnssss ago, just pre-Viet Nam,, we lived there for about 2 yrs., best kept secret in the Marianas back then. We lived at the beaches & pools. I learned to skateboard there & do the hula. LOL I hear that it's now become quite the secret little "Hawaii" & tourist spot,I guess. At least I'm sure it's less expensive. :0)
Have a good evening - sesport
Hello Antsu-in-Japan,
I cannot believe that we haven't made friends before now! I so enjoy reading your comments. You are very thought provoking and teach us to look at things from a different prospective. Keep up with the good work. I value your comments more than you know.
Great Day Antsu....I hate to ask, but did you ever find the recipe for the Strawberry pie ??. I bought Louisiana Strawberries yesterday at the marker and
thought about that pie !!
* 9-inch baked pie shell (actually, I like to crush my favorite butter cookies, add cinnamon and nuts, butter and sugar to make my own shell. Tastes sooooo much better than those store bought ones!!)
* 1 1/2 quarts of strawberries
* 3/4 cup of sugar
* 3 tablespoons of cornstarch
* 2/3 cup of water
* a few drops of red food color (if desired...I don't add it)
* 1 1/2 packages of cream cheese, softened
* 1/2 cup of powdered sugar
* dash of cinnamon or nutmeg
Prepare and bake pie shell if needed. Mash enough of the strawberries to measure 1 cup. Mix the sugar and cornstarch in a 2-quart saucepan. Gradually stir in water, food color and mashed strawberries. Cook over medium heat, stirring constantly, until mixture thickens and boils. Boil and stir for one minute; then cool.
Beat cream cheese until smooth. Add spices and powdered sugar. Spread in pie shell. Fill shell with remaining strawberries. Pour cooked mixture over the top. Put in the fridge for about three hours or until set. Enjoy...
PS...I've done this same pie with lemon peels and lemon juice instead of strawberries. One of my cookie shop's best sellers!!
Cherry blossoms! Thanks for sharing that pic. The closest we have here would be pink dogwoods, but I don't think we have any place where an avenue is line with them.
I just left a comment on sesport's page and noticed your post.
It reminded me of my visit to DC about 10 years ago. The cherry blossoms are beautiful. I don't think I will ever look at one in the future and not remember your comment about pink snow. What a vivid description you paint.
It is beautiful here as well. The Japanese magnolias have already bloomed but I always look at them in awe. I call them butterfly magnolias. The flowers look like pink lotus flowers to me (or butterflies). I love the regular magnolias as well, but the pink ones bloom with such a striking spectacle each year.
I had dinner this evening with two friends that have both been to Japan. They both said that it was the most wonderful place that they have ever been. They said that the people in Japan are the friendliest they have met. Thanks for sharing your corner of the world with us. Also keep letting people know how we are viewed by the rest of the world. Some won't care, but your messages do get through to others.
I've enjoyed getting to know you and even if we never meet in person, I enjoy having met you as a friend.
The world can never be a better place unless people open their minds and their hearts.
Sometimes we need to just sit back and watch those peacocks and see that in the grand scheme of things all that they are doing is strutting. Sometimes it looks like they are doing something else, but I believe they rarely accomplish anything. So what's the harm in letting them parade around. With that in mind, I'll try to be more entertained than annoyed.
Here is a Haiku that I wrote today:
Motherhood is brief
Love released eternally
taught in fleeting time
It is almost comical how unusual this is for me. I've never even paid attention to Haikus, but I'm actually enjoying it and some other writing as well.
What I find so amazing is that so many people that I have not met have been able to bring light and bliss into my life, sometimes during what would have otherwise been a very dark time.
I've been trying to remind myself to be "mindful" and live in the moment. After all that is all we have. Joy can be found in such simple things when you let the noise go. The noise will always find its way back in, we just have to keep reaching for the peaceful silence.
I enjoyed the Haiku and all of the inspiration that you bring to others around you.
If you make it here by early Summer, we'll have to go blackberry picking at a farm I visit every year. The bushes are thornless and they have blueberries too.
I had Kombucha and a whole container of blackberries for lunch today. I keep meaning to tell you about having accidentally stumbling upon Kombucha. I am drinking a variety that is infused with Ginger. (I bought it because I thought it was a Ginger ale that a friend was telling me about). I don't know if you have ever had Buffalo Rock gingerale when you lived in Florida. We used to bring it back like it was contraband when we traveled to Alabama. If you have had Buffalo Rock, you will understand that I was disappointed when I first tried Kombucha. I drank a little and put it in the fridge. When I drank some more a few days later, it sort of grew on me. Now I can't get enough. I like that you really can't consume it fast. You have to slow down and really experience the flavor. The combination of it with blackberries is indescribable. Simple and complex at the same time.
I've never had mugi cha. I brought KB some kombucha to try today.
The variety that I have been drinking is not very sweet. It sort of has a vinegar type taste. That doesn't really describe it though. The ginger is very strong in the one that I like. And you have to be careful that you don't accidentally shake it even after it is half empty.
Oddly enough, I did something that resembled cooking.
Actually pretty good.
Combine
White meat chicken
Poppy seed dressing and equal amount of mayonnaise
Red grapes (sliced)
Roasted Pecans
A touch of curry or any other spice to taste.
Me too. I love Summer. I would rather it be 100 degrees than anything below 70. Summer is way too short (even here in the South - where it last 3/4 of the year).
