Do you know what the State might do to your unit?

Problems with Big Drilling Units

The Louisiana Department of Conservation has already approved joining some sections near the Texas line to form drilling units for the Haynesville Shale in excess of 900 acres instead of the normal 640 acre units. I understand also that Louisiana law currently limits the size of drilling units to 640 acres, so I do not understand how this change can be implemented without changing the law. Don't think this could only impact those sections on the… Continue

Haynesville Shale Basics for the Newbies out there

Since this site has gotten so big and there are so many newbies on here, I thought I would do a little basics outline for folks this time. Let me prefice this by saying that leasing has slowed to a crawl at this point and Chesapeake is backing out of many deals in areas they do not hold the majority. We have land in the above area with leases to Petrohawk. Curious if either Petrohawk, XTO Energy or EOG, possibly Cheseapeake are drilling new wells in this area.

An interesting tidbit of inormation

As you all know by now my neighborhood is held by production from a 1955 lease and a well in a completely different section. I and some of my neighbors have spent the past 3 weeks discussing the need to move forward with a demand for release and possible litigation with all of the folks in the affected area. There has been much discussion re, the attorney fee, court costs, etc.

There have been many questions raised and, since more and more people out there are finding themselves in… Continue
