BW66-It was great to read your comment on what you were seeing in the area. I'm hoping things are indeed moving along our way, that would be great news for north louisiana. Keep me posted and thanks so much again!!

Is there any way I could find out if seismic testing was done on my property, and if so the results. I know that I was paid by someone wanting to do testing a couple years ago. Never heard anything. Oh, all we can do is pray that the Haynesville Shale is in our parishes. Technology is advancing, so even if it is a 19000 ft, maybe one day they can drill that depth. I don't know if its possible, cause I dont know much about it.

Im a registered nurse. As far as Vernon goes, nothing wrong with it, I just wish that I owned property there. My great grandpa did, but I did not get any inheritance from him.

Thanks Bigwood. I waited ten long years to have a dog this ugly, but I love him and wouldn't trade him for anything. I do own some property in Jackson Parish (not near Vernon). I actually am working in Winnfield, so becoming more familiar with the area.

thanks once more for your help with this person. Obviously, he wasn't bold enough to hang around with a bunch of 'ignorant' people.

THe shoot is going up to about the Brewtons Mill area, about 10 or so miles west of the well in question.

Most of the wells in the southern part of the parish are shallow oil wells. I bought land and lived in NW Winn back in 82, in about 83 a company came in and leased, in 86 another company came in and leased and did a shoot, and the line came across my land. Since that time till today no company has ever contacted me about leaseing. The strange thing is that about 2 miles to the north is the Bienville parish line, and within 100 yards of the line are gas wells, (The Danville Field) but they have never drilled across the line in Winn parish. I am not the sharpest knife in the drawer, but I know that gas doesn't know what a parish line is. And to the south at the lake is a big field. And on hwy 9 just before Creston there is an old bath house site from back in the 30s or 40s, and there is a pipe sticking up out of the ground, and 24/ 7 there is Gas and water spewing out of it, people stop and light it up and let it burn all the time. So please mr big gas company don't tell me that there is nothing in Winn parish.

Hi BW,
Thanks for the info !! I went out to the well one day last week to have a look for myself, it had a flange bolted on but it wasn't plugged. I knew they didn't go deep enough to get to the HS ( bummer).
They are still doing the shoot west of there, I know we will never see any of the results, Chesapeake will keep those cards tight to the vest.
IF I can be of any help just let me know.
Jim

Hi, Woody, I think the formation they are talking about in Winn is part of the Jurassic which appears to be deeper than the HS. At this point it seems that everything is just hearsay.
I would appreciate any information you have on landmen or leasing in Winn Parish. I have lots of acres there and have leased some of it but not all by a long shot.
The chairman of Chesapeake recently said that the HS probably covers 3.5 million acres so I figure Winn must be included in that. What do you think?
Thanks for any help-I am in Rhode Island so I feel pretty isolated from all the action

Hi, I don't remember the name of the geologist. I have it written down somewhere and will try to find it in all the info I am keeping on the Haynesville shale. The formation he talked about is part of the Jurassic but they are just now getting info on it from the seismic studies they are doing in north winn parish. Do you know if anyone else has leased up in that area. I leased to Chesapeake a few months ago and got 1/5 royalties so I think they must know something about winn parish. If things start moving into our area we should get together and talk. From what the seismic folks and my oil business friends are saying-Winn Parish should play in this boom. Keep me posted if you find out anything about leasing or activity in Winn.
