Here is the friend of the friend (swim team parents) who recently got out of the hospital.

A 44-year-old Northern Virginia man who was put in a medically induced coma after contracting COVID-19, is awake and talking after his wife says he was “knocking on death’s door.”

Titou Phommachanh of Manassas is a father of three daughters and a Capital Hilton employee. His wife told ABC7 News the couple took a trip to New York City the weekend before Phommachanh developed flu-like symptoms. He tested negative for influenza and a week later, he was intubated at Fairfax Inova Hospital after contracting the novel coronavirus.

“My husband is a 44-year-old, active, like young dad,” Amanda Phommachanh told reporter Victoria Sanchez through a Facetime interview. “The only thing he had going against him was high blood pressure, which so many Americans have. So, nobody’s immune to this.”

Anyone paying attention should have accepted by now that this is a real emergency that requires following your state and local guidelines to keep infections from overwhelming local medical capacities.  Follow the directions and support those on the front line that can not practice social distancing.  Also consider a donation to your local food bank and start check ups, online and by phone, on friends and relatives to make sure they are copping and not needlessly having to go out.  Stay safe, take care.
