Monthly Production from L SMK RA SUA in Ora Field (Combined BML and Doles Figures)

SONRIS Lite is now reporting cumulative oil and gas production for the month of January, 2013, for the L SMK RA SUA unit in the Ora Field of Union Parish, which contains the BML and Doles horizontals. The figures, which appear to be total unit production from both wells, are 17,752 barrels of oil (condensate?) and 123,361 MCF of gas. Assuming this is for 31 days, this is equivalent to 573 BOPD and 3979 MCFD. The state potential tests were run for both wells on or about January 31, 2013 and showed combined production of 511 BOPD and 4353 MCFD. So it appears that daily production did not drop precipitously during the month. Of course we don't know how much choke settings were changed during the month. It will be interesting to see how the output holds up in the next few months.

shale player,

According to the links that I gave above, the BML well is the older of the 2 by about 6 months, so in this case the older well is doing better.

That is what I understand also.  The BML is the older well.  My question is ....How do you determine how long a well will produce and please explain the decline of the wells.

Brenda, I'm not an expert on this, but it certainly seems that the Doles is declining faster than the BML.  For example, the test of the Doles on 4/23/13 showed it producing 61 barrels of condensate per day, which is 35.7% less than its average of 95 bcpd for the whole month of April. Gas production for the Doles was down 11.2% on the test date from the average for the month.

On the other hand, the test of the BML on 4/27/13 showed 139 bcpd, which is only 8.55% less than the April average of 152 bcpd. Gas production from the BML was down only 4.4% on the test date from the average for the month.

There have been some reports that casing problems in the Doles caused some of the fracture stages to be unsuccessful, which may account at least in part for its poor performance so far.

Thank you Obed.

Obed and others,

Sorry, I guess I'm getting older and senile. The older well is doing better but neither well is doing very good.  The rates are way too low to payout the wells' cost.  I'd guess that SWN will have to install compression soon to keep them producing and that's not good when you started with a reservoir pressure that was very high as reported by Mr. Mueller.

Well, the Doles was really down in May.  What is the deal...Will this production increase?

B Kenner, are you referring to production reported on SONRIS Lite?

No it is from another report.  Have they had it shut in ?

The DT-1 test 4/23 does show the choke opened from 26/64th. on the original SDM20 test to 34/64th.  There will be another DT-1 reported in November.  Outside of those two reports operators are not required to report choke adjustments or shut in condition so there's no way to know for sure unless the operator will tell you.  The BML appears to be holding up better as it has not been changed from it's original choke setting as of the report 4/23.

The combined May production figures reported by SONRIS Lite  for the BML plus Doles are:

162 barrels condensate per day, down 36% from April

1980 mcfd gas, down 36.7% from April

So this is a larger monthly decline than we had seen previously, especially in the gas production. Brenda, you may be right that the Doles is doing very poorly now or has been shut in. As I said earlier and Skip re-iterated, the DT-1 tests in late April indicated a relatively poor performance for the Doles, compared with the BML.

The Well Cost Statements for the BML and Doles wells were recently entered in the SONRIS Classic database.

BML  Form STRP-WCS (Well Cost Statement)  http://ucmwww.dnr.state.la.us/ucmsearch/UCMRedir.aspx?url=http%3a%2...

Doles Form STRP-WCS (Well Cost Statement)

Combined costs of $37,000,000  That, my friends, is a lot of Benjamins!
