Monthly Production from L SMK RA SUA in Ora Field (Combined BML and Doles Figures)

SONRIS Lite is now reporting cumulative oil and gas production for the month of January, 2013, for the L SMK RA SUA unit in the Ora Field of Union Parish, which contains the BML and Doles horizontals. The figures, which appear to be total unit production from both wells, are 17,752 barrels of oil (condensate?) and 123,361 MCF of gas. Assuming this is for 31 days, this is equivalent to 573 BOPD and 3979 MCFD. The state potential tests were run for both wells on or about January 31, 2013 and showed combined production of 511 BOPD and 4353 MCFD. So it appears that daily production did not drop precipitously during the month. Of course we don't know how much choke settings were changed during the month. It will be interesting to see how the output holds up in the next few months.

Exploration wells are expensive science projects.  The Doles is a good improvement over the earlier BML.

Skip, I take it that you mean the Doles was less expensive than the BML, but the Doles is also not producing nearly as well as the BML. Of course it doesn't appear at this point that either well will be economic.

obed, yes the improvement in the Doles is cost to drill and complete.  I'm posting the reports to point out how expensive the wells are in general.  And yes, as I have said before, the wells are not economic. Furthermore an important variable in determining the economics of these wells is the oil cut. With API gravities of 58 and 59 these wells are less oily than previous completions.  This has been acknowledged by SWN when they changed their description for the Lower Smackover from oil and gas to condensate and gas.

Skip, do you expect SWN to renew any of their primary lease terms or will they let them go due to poor performance?

I expect SWN to renew some and allow some to expire.  As far as a guesstimate of where, let's wait until the next well or wells are drilled and completed.  I'm hoping that SWN permits additional wells and brings in a second rig.  They basically have 6 to 8 months to generate data to help make a decision on leases.

The combined July production for the BML/Doles wells was reported by SONRIS Lite today:

3929 bbls condensate, or 127 bcpd; 32050 MCF gas, or 1034 MCFD

The condensate figures are close to the 104 bcpd for the BML plus 30 bcpd for the Doles that SWN reported for July in their 2nd Quarter Earnings Release, but the gas figures are less than the 1230 MCFD for the BML plus 750 MCFD for the Doles reported for July by SWN. In any case, the July combined results are somewhat higher than the June combined results of 126 bcpd and 724 MCFD.

Thanks, Obed.

August production for the BML/Doles wells:

104 bcpd (down 17.9% from July); 1530 MCFD (up 48% from July)

For someone less knowledgeable, such as myself, any idea why the reported NG production increased so much?  Thanks.

I suspect it has to do enthalapy and bubble point pressures being reached in the reservoir. While I don't know any other details that is a swag on my part. Think of it sort of like opening a 2 liter coke and the bubbles that come out of the solution.

Thanks. Whether or not that's what's actually happening, it does help me understand the concept.

Do you happen to have Septembers production on BML/DOLES?
