Rock Man, I agree 1000%. Before I lease I want to see their Drilling, Completion and Stimulation Protocol. OH, I left out how they are going to produce the well.

Feb 23rd    Joe, where in the world do I learn that kind of stuff.  Who is going to be on my side and not of the landman.

Feb 23    Remember I am a new "baby" to this mountain of information and the GHS website.  My intentions are to learn here and elsewhere.  The thought never occurred to me there are more than one Hunter Exploration.  I will search to find out.

In my limited reading I have learned that all drilling companies are not equally  qualified and even wrote to my four other family members a week ago of that very thing.  At this point I think I would put EOG in the top three.

When I have been talking to Acadian Services of Lafayette and Hunter Explorations I have ask both who would be doing the drilling.  Neither would really answer that , only Acadian said it would be a company out of New Orleans.

Now I can use some coaching of how I drag or demand that from them.  Once I learn and wish it was a different operator how do I proceed.

The bottom line here, HELP me along in this process.

John, only those with large acreage holdings, fortunate location and savvy legal assistance recognized as such by the industry will have much success getting an answer to the question of what company is behind their lease offer this early in the land rush.  If your family has a good negotiating position because you meet the preceding criteria, you might offer to execute a confidentiality agreement.  Otherwise, wait until the cat is out of the bag.

John, I have spent 40 years researching the AC. You can point to the EOG well as a prime example of a company not using a compatible drilling, completion or stimulation program in the AC. So a company's protocol is extremely important. I have my protocol and I want to compare it to whoever I'm leasing to.

Rock,  Hunter Exploration Co. Inc in Lafayette.  About four people.  Can not find them on Wikipedia.   The landman for Hunter and Acadian would not let me know who the operator would be, only Acadian said it would be a company from New Orleans.   Soooo, how do I find a credible company that would want to lease with us.

John, you can't find them because you are looking in the wrong place.  Lafayette is home to many land companies and the principals in those companies often do business under multiple names.  If you don't have a superior negotiating position, you are unlikely to learn the identity of the operator.  Sometimes you just have to accept that and concentrate on the lease terms.  Those terms will be binding on whatever company ends up holding your lease.  Get professional help.  Here is a cut-and-paste of Hunter Exploration's registry with the LA SOS.

Looks like Hunter is a lease brokerage firm. As to finding a credible company that will want to lease you (e.g. an EOG type of group), the issue is what they think about your area and not you "finding" them.

Acadian's comment that operator would be a company from New Orleans is interesting - if that is true, it would probably not be one of the major players in horizontal drilling. Or it could be smoke screen put up by Acadia.

It ends up coming down to finding out as much as you can about who is making you offers - and how much you want to risk losing an offer by holding out for more info about who will eventually be getting the lease for potential drilling.

Staying on top of who is doing what in an area (both drilling and leasing) is a key here. And info posted on a site like this helps in the communication flow as to who the players are in any one area.

David Sturlese has been doing lease broker work in Louisiana for a LONG time. They are one of the most experienced and creditable broker groups in this area.

What I know so far, One Thousand an acre and 22 and 1/2 In East Feliciana.

Can you give an approximate location, such as the town or community it is close too.

I'll second your enthusiasm, Craig. This AC story has evolved from "barbershop shop talk" to substantial revelations directly from legitimate players. Although it's early in the New Year, I thought we'd see a few O&G peeps lined up at the permit office with their 2018 budgets in hand. Quiet so far...
