If you are terrorized by gas compressor noise, here is your answer.

I thought this information might help someone.

East Texas residents just won an 11-year battle against noise and pollution from a natural gas compression station.

From The Paris News
County residents win 11-year-old lawsuit
This took place in Lamar County where a jury has turned the page on an 11-year-old battle by 12 county residents who filed the case in 1998.

Noise and odor was a major problem for residents living near the compressor but they were given the typical response: We are in compliance so there is nothing you can do.

During the trial it was revealed that "state monitoring, which the company touted as its defense, was really a mere rubber stamp."

This was another case of the state allowing the industry to regulate itself at citizens's expense.

Okay, so all you people who have written to me about compressor noise, THIS IS YOUR TICKET!

Yes, I think it may help other people. Compressor noise is a huge issue and it's something operators can fix but they just don't want to.

I don't know about an appeal. All I know is what's at that link and it's sketchy.

After 11 years and 12 plaintiff's it works out to less than $10,000 per year per plaintiff before the lawyer's fee and expenses. After that is deducted it may not leave much.

Looks like the best outcome is that a jury sided with the plaintiff's and agreed that state monitoring is nil.

Has the defendant Company given notice of appeal?

The jury awarded $1,242,500 in damages to nine of the plaintiffs who had sued the Natural Gas Pipeline Co. of America, operator of the compression station.

Not much for 11 years of hell.
