Devon's - Warr 1-H / 2-1/4 miles NW Center, Texas - Shelby County

When Devon announced their success with their 30.7mmfcd Kardell #1H in San Augustine last week they also mentioned that their 2nd horizontal is currently being drilled in Shelby, Co.

This is the Warr 1H well, which originates in the D.Hopkins (A-306) Survey and continues Northward into the E. Carzenava (A-96) Survey.

Considering the success of their Kardell well, it will be pretty interesting to see where this one comes in at....

W1 Permit:

Approved W1:

Three fields are listed as targeted per the application:

1) Center/Haynesville: Gas-Completion depth @ 17,500'
2) Stockman/Cotton Valley: Gas-Completion depth @ 10,000'
3) Wildcat: Gas or Oil - Completion depth @ 17,500'

Any updates on how this one is progressing?

D. Garr, I am new to the group. Can an Operator repermit a well to increase acreage in the unit after the well is drilled in Texas? I am assuming from previous discussions of this well that this well had already been drilled. If so, why would Devon increase the acreage of the unit? I'm much more familiar with Louisiana rules/issues. Also, it appears on the W-1 Review that the Completion depth and Total Depth are the same @ 17,500'. Does Devon not have to report True Vertical Depth?

Yes

this well had already been drilled?
Yes, but no IP reported yet.

Does Devon not have to report True Vertical Depth?
Yes, it is reported on the G-1 report to the TRRC. I am attaching a report by EOG on the Gammage #1H in Nac. Co. as an example. See pages 2 & 3 and look at box #28 on page 3 for TVD.

I assume the G-1 report is a completion type report and the estimated TVD is not reported on the permit as is th case in LA. I'm trying to ascertain that a horizontal well permit is in fact a Haynesville or Bossier, and not a horizontal Cotton Valley or James Lime. Thank you for your help, Jffree1.
You're welcome SB. What permit are you looking at? I track all the HA/BO permits in 6 counties and I've probably got something on file for it (even if I just suspect it due to depth permitted) .
I didn't have a particular well in mind. I just see that there are some 14,000 ft Horizontal wells permitted by CHK that either have short laterals or the Haynesville is not as deep as I thought it was.
SB, the well permits in Texas list the objective formation(s) but in some cases they simply list Wildcat.
And they amend depths and fields all the time.
It was our understanding that Devon was in the process of completing this well, but have not heard or received final completion results. Any news would be appreciated.
