I just want to know how the oil spill is effecting everyone. I feel really bad for the people whos jobs are fishing ect. and their income counts on it. They are still going to do offshore drilling even though this happened? I just want everyones thoughts on this and how if effects them stories ect. Thanks

Why not set the oil aflame (so to speak)? What are the ethical issues of an extraction based economy and what might we in the Haynesville Shale learn from this BP exposure? This kind of post-colonial economy does not benefit the people of Louisiana as it should. What has been the investment of BP beyond the mandatory taxes (I am not certain how much they pay to Louisiana) and jobs?
most of the spill is a light sheen and is too thin to burn, it must be swept up in booms and then lit. Also, there is a lot of oil below the surface.
Just want to clarify--my critical post was not meant as a criticism of the oil and gas industry as a whole, but specifically (and as a layman) of British Petroleum.

Tuscaloosa Trend Sits On Top Of Poorest Neighbourhood For Decades - Yet No Royalties Ever Paid To The Community -- Why??

In researching the decades-old Tuscaloosa Trend and the immense wealth it has generated for many, I find it deeply troubling that this resource-rich formation runs directly beneath one of the poorest communities in North Baton Rouge—near Southern University, Louisiana—yet neither the university ( that I am aware of)  nor local residents appear to have received any compensation for the minerals extracted from their land.
