This is a post being sent to anyone having info on a shale fprmation called brown dense. There is a company called PINE bELT WHO IS RUMORED TO BE LEASING
several 300 to 400,000 acres in two counties in Ark. and one ....Union Parish ,La.
Is anyone selling leases?? If so ,what is the going rate?
EOG is spin-off to the old Enron company.
This lease asctivity seems to on a hush-hush basis.
Does anyone think this might be as big as any of the other shale plays? Jim B.

I can confirm that, but I would prefer to speak to you offline about it.

At your convenience; I appreciate the assistance. Despite what landmen may say, there is no legal prohibition against landowners discussing their terms. They obviously prefer that we not talk as it makes their job more difficult when lessors are well informed.

" there is no legal prohibition against landowners discussing their terms"

Unless you have agreed not to discuss the terms.
I can also confirm this. They have paid more than $200 per acre..
If you have any confirmed info on a lease taken in Union County, AR, please call me at 832-215-6498. I'd be curious to know the terms, approximately when the lease was bought, and who the lessee was (presumably the broker firm).
Thanks,
John
The brown dense is limestone and not shale. It is located at the bottom of the Smackover formation. On the drilling permits, the Arkansas Oil and Gas Commission (AOGC) refer to it as the Lower Smackover and brown dense is not used. The oil companies are going to try to produce the brown dense using the same drilling technology used in the Haynesville shale and other shale plays. Some think that it may take several tries to fine tune the technology and to figure out the geology of the brown dense.

Pinebelt Energy and Resources Corporation is buying leases for an unnamed oil company. Pinebelt is offering $175 per acre with 3/16 royalty for a 4 year lease. There are other companies buying leases but not offering as much as Pinebelt and are not interested in as much area . The area west and south of El Dorado appear to be the area of greatest interest but I do not know people in other areas of the county so I do not know what is going on outside the western part of Union County.
Technically speaking the brown dense is dolomite or dolomitic limestone. It is the SOURCE ROCK for hydrocarbons in the overlying members of the Smackover A, B, and C zones and other formations overlying Smackover. Dolomite is essentially limestone with magnesium added. Refer to WIKIPEDIA for detailed descpription.

I anticipate that the brown dense will generate much new production from the Smackover in N. La. and S. Ar. once somone cracks the technological "code". How soon? Who knows? But, it will happen!
The brown dense is an organic rich limestone. It is not a clean limestone it is made up of organic material, sand, shale, dolomite, and was anaerobic (had no exposure to oxygen) most of the productive shales are misnamed they should be dirty sandstones, dirty dolostones etc.
Thank you Terry,
What is your opinion about Union Parish and the Arkansas fault line?
Alison :-)
Sorry i just asked ya the same question ..how does one know how to crack the technological code?
Do you think that Natural gas can help out the demise of underwater drilling?
Thank you,
Alison :-)
Gary,
What you said about Brown Dense and Limestone is in my opinion correct..my daddy who is an Oil and Gas attorney said the same..he knows. He has seen alot, and knows Union Parish. Trust Pinebelt as they have done all of the research; they are not speculators; they know. Be patient.

Mary Alison Knighton..aka Alison
Gary,
Trust Pinebelt; they do know in a positive way.

Alison
