URGENCY CALL your US Senator now (UPDATE WE WON THIS FIGHT-6/15/10---vote 61 NAYS and 35 YEAS)

Sen Bernard Sanders from VT( Independent )has offered amendment to tax legislation pending in the Senate that would increase taxes on independent producers. The Senate could vote as early as next Tuesday 15 june. It would eliminate IDC on oil % gas operators and % depletion allowance on royalty owners revenue. I want and need every member to call your Senator Monday the 14th and voice your opposition to this action. say something like " I understand Sen Sanders has proposed an amendment to tax legislation that will remove the % depletion allowance on my royalty income that has been part of the tax code since 1926. I expect you to oppose this action."

I wonder how many Senators listened to the minority of voters who smoked when those bills were introduced to raise the tax on tobacco? Probably about as many who will listen to the minority of voters who are receiving royalties, huh?
Do Senators or any other politician for that matter actually Read those letters any more?
I said call on the phone and talk to their aids they do listen and if they get 10 of thousands call believe me they listen. If you don't have dime call on your cell phone it's free long distant call. If you don't call it's like not voting then you have no reason to complain about anything the gov. does!!!!!!!!!!!
Taxes, Taxes, Taxes they just can't find enough money to spend. I'm calling.
First I would like to say I am proud not to related to Bernie Sanders. I will call John McCain on Monday. I hope and expect J.D. Hayworth will replace him this fall. Hope
John doesn't read this!
I talked to J.D. about our disaster a week ago at a fund raiser for him .
I believe he will be very favorable to LA. when he takes that office. Some of you will remember him as "Foghorn Leghorn" when he was in House of Representatives. Very vocal!
Mr. Sanders - How would you then suggest that the government pay for all that is necessary to ensure that drilling is done safely. We've already called out government agencies here locally several times to assess, monitor, investigate cattlegate, well blow outs, water well contamination. Just curious.

I will call also. ENOUGH IS ENOUGH!
Adubu, thanks for bringing this to everyone's attention. You are correct that not calling is like not voting. Make yourself vocal.
I agree 100%, intrepid. I've been calling and writing various government officials and politicians for over a year and a half about personal concerns. I may not get my way, maybe nobody is even listening, but I feel better about myself and my responsibility as an American citizen if I at least try to make my voice heard than if I stick my head in the sand and hope for the best.
Be nice to get the tea party folks behind this, huh?
Now there's a voice that politicians are beginning to find difficult to ignore...
Maybe folks should start calling them as well.
this original was posted by NARO Executive Director Jerry Simmons on email to all NARO members with email address. You can "google" your state senator for contract infomation. Call both their DC and local office numbers. No voice msg talk with their aids, perfer the aid on that subject of tax legislation on "Big Oil"
We WON 61-35 on vote amendment did not pass
Does anybody else notice trends here? Sanders-VT, John Kerry-MA, Joe Lieberman-CT.... Little to no appreciation for the those who actually give them their energy.
