Skip,
Is it a 640 acre unit to allow for horizontal drilling?
Thanks.
tony, I suspect so but we won't know for sure until we see some well permits. There is a post on the SONRIS Help Center Group page that explains how to search for "Well Permits By Date". I perform a search each week for one of my clients whereby I enter the Monday date and the Friday date and pull up all the wells for the week. It's simple and takes little time.
you have to have 640 acres or one section of land to drill a smackover well in La.
Mr. Butler,
I thought it only required 160 acres per smackover well.Am I mistaken ?
My family has had three smackover wells on their land they have all been based on 640 acre units. And all the smackover well units that i know of are based on 640 acre units. To my understanding from talking to people with more knowledge than I you can only have one smackover well per 640 acres.

This area has suffered immense environmental degradation…
