Bossier auction on October 8th. Their starting bid is $27,500 per acre and a 25% share of the gas revenue. This should tell us something.

I hope we learn something good.

Maybe we'll find out if the gas companies still have a pulse left.
Pull up a few quotes...I believe all are in ICU hooked up to ventilators!! Its been pretty nasty. However, XOM is sitting on $40 BILLION in cold, hard cash and could buy 3 or 4 of the "big independents" without blinking. They could suck up CHK, HK and a couple of others and still have ZERO debt and money left over to keep buying back stock. Don't know if it will happen but it could!
I am surprised we are hearing the economy will effect the lease offers.
Please explain why you are surpised. Have you looked at the share prices of these companies?? They are down 75% in just over a month or two!

Setting minimum bids was just a bonehead move by the cities. Of course, they can just sit and wait as well. But this economic move is not going away anytime soon. Think 24-36 months of pain. Anyone remember the 1970's? Remember the return on the market from 1972 to 1980? You would have been better off putting the money in a coffee can in the back yard.
Who is THEOPHILUS OIL, GAS & LAND SERVICES, LLC? I noticed that they made the largest bids today.
I was told they only do Gov. bid work
Thanks! I'm not impressed with the low bids today. It's not looking good. As I have mentioned before, we own 40 acres in DeSoto that is currently under a lease that expires at the end of Dec 08. Well, apparently the state owns some land close to ours (s27-t12-r11) and that was included in the sale today. The highest offer was only $2392/acre by Classic Petroleum. =(
Pretty sure they were the ones that bid for Petrohawk in DeSoto and Caddo - from Baton Rouge?
They are a lease contracting company that only works on government bids.
The gas under our property is not going anywhere. The big money is in the royalty!!!. I do wish that I had signed for 10,000 or even 8,500 now Red River is only offering less than 7,000. I will wait for the upward swing again or even being forced pool. What do ya think? Why should I get less bonus money up front when you KNOW they will come for our gas...............Wait Wait Wait!!!! If you really think about it, they could be using the market as an excuse to get our land for less and they still make the profit.....
It's hard to imagine the shale conspiracy theorists are still holding strong..... but here it is.

Hey, maybe those companies orchestrated the financial meltdown so they could shave off a couple of thousand dollars from a few offers.

I swear. Good luck to the conspiracy theorists and their followers who have promoted opinionated rhetoric on this site where landowners came searching for valid information to make an educated decision. YES, your gas is still there, but that doesn't mean we all didn't just witness one of the fastest, most inflated and speculative acquisition periods for OGM leases this community has ever seen in recent history.

The only thing in your control is to call your rep. in Congress and ask that we promote NG for greater utility than we do now. Demand is key for Nat. Gas future and is key for the Haynesville to reach the expectations many on this site have.
Please do not call me a conspiracy theorists. You do not know what I have control over. Who do you think you are????? I just made a comment.... Everyone on this site has the right to there opinion.
