I purchased ownership maps from Fordyce Mapping Service, P.O. Box 604 - Fordyce, Arkansas 71742. Telephone number is 870-352-3194.  They have a website www.fordycemaps.com.

They have ownership maps of several counties in Arkansas and several parishes in Louisiana.

Globe is company of the past but several years ago I was told that an individual purchased Globe's files with the intent to continue mapping development and marketing same. Yes I've seen and called Fordyce looking for Claiborne Parish but price discouraged me as only a landowner. Wife has interest in land surface and mineral estate Columbia Cty. AR.  Very useful book of ownership plats by township and range with full names  and acres in seperate index cross referenced to plat page number for every  AR county ea township. Columbia's book cost $75. Marceline Mapping, 1600 N. Missouri Ave, Marceline MO 64658. Land line: 660/376-2755; email:  sales@marcelinemapping.com

They have wall maps as well as platt books; can order on-line or by phone.  I have a map updated thru 2011.

Go to your assessor's office if the parish you want is where you live. You can look it up yourself at the clerks' office.

yep  and its free..

also take your records  with you..any old tax statements or wills..

They had some mistakes on my ownership records  ..the deeds were there but they had not translated to the recorded records.

I went to court house and searched from 1908 forward..took several hours.  But found what I needed to secure  my rights under mineral estate.

Didn't cost me anything but time.

Will these maps also tell who holds the mineral right also, or just the surface owners?

My platt map is surface owners, which works for me.  Also, I like to highlight and write on it so like having my own.

Ken:

The tax assessor only keeps track of surface owners (in LA)

They have detailed tract maps for each section.

TO determine mineral ownership, you have to run the title to see if the minerals have ever been severed and follow that chain of title. It can be difficult, sometimes its relativly simple.

In Desoto Parish, they have books at each of the librarys. Mostly up to date, put the courthouse also has the addresses.

In Texas almost all county appraisal districts have online property search sites. This makes it easy if you know the owner name or address you are looking for. Rural areas are sometimes not easy to identify. Some counties have online access to mineral royalties values.

In Amite County, MS, a reasonably up-to-date surface ownership map can be found at the link below.  Simply click on "View Map" then click a couple of times on the section of the county you have an interest and roll across whatever properties you have an interest...again, this is only for the surface.  Mineral/royalty owner search is a major task in Mississippi.

I have used all three company's products.  By far Construction Safety Products plat books are the clearest and most accurate as far as I can tell.  I would rate them excellent.  The only problem I have found is that not all parishes / counties have been developed yet, but hopefully time will solve that issue.

Marceline Mapping also has very good products.  May not be quite up to date as CSP but that is probably because CSP is just getting started and is use current information.

Fordyce Mapping Service's products are inferior to the other two in my opinion.  I do not buy their plats any more.  I find too many mistakes on landowners and find some of the printing is not real clean.  It appears to be they are still using some older technology like "cut and tape" and have not upgraded to digital.
