Find a professional forester who will market your timber by sealed bid for a percentage of the gross.

Do not sell your timber outright to a "forester" who will in most cases be nothing more than a wood dealer without scruples who is just waiting for someone like you to come along and make his day.

You should be able to obtain a list of legitimate foresters in your area from the nearest LA Office of Forestry.

How many acres to timber are involved here, and what type and size of trees are present? You holding may or may not be enough to interest a professional forester. Small tracts are not worth that much in this age of mechanized logging, and remember that timber prices are in the toilet right now. Best to hold unless you just want it cleared for some reason.
