Chesapeake Blowout
This is probably about the last thing you need to have happen when your stock price is 50 cents and gas prices are not much higher than that.
Authorities are investigating the cause of an accident at a Chesapeake Energy oil well in Burleson County that left one person dead and three more injured.
Burleson County Sheriff's Department deputies were called out to a blow out at a Chesapeake Energy well off County Road 127 and FM 60 a couple miles southeast of Deanville just after 3:30 p.m. Wednesday.
A Chesapeake spokesman, Gordon Pennoyer, said in a statement that a contractor on the site was killed and the three injured workers were transported by helicopter to medical facilities in Houston and Austin.
Pennoyer said first responders and oil field emergency response specialist Boots & Coots were at the location.

BURLESON COUNTY, Texas — UPDATE: February 3, 2020
Chesapeake Energy spokesperson Gordon Pennoyer has confirmed a third person who was hurt after an oil well blowout in Burleson County has died. A fourth person was also hurt, but their condition at this time is not yet known.
Two others were killed in the blowout on January 29. One died at the scene, another died the next day.
UPDATE: January 31, 2020
Chesapeake Energy spokesperson Gordon Pennoyer announced Friday a second person has died of their injuries in an oil well blowout in Burleson County.
The person died Thursday evening. Two other people are being treated at local hospitals.
Pennoyer said the blowout happened at the oil well near Deanville while workover operations were being done by company contractors, C.C. Forbes and Eagle Pressure Control.

Chesapeake Energy spokesperson Gordon Pennoyer said the fire is officially out at the oil well site in Burleson County. Pennoyer said the cause of the fire is not known at this time and Chesapeake emergency response is on the scene, along with control specialist Boots and Coots and they are still working to secure the well.
One contractor was killed and three others were hurt after the fire broke out Wednesday around 3:30 p.m. Pennoyer said at the time of the fire, workover operations were being done.
The names of those killed and hurt have not yet been released.
