I doubt that the depth of the Smackover is sufficiently deep to access the bottom hole temperature that would be required for a geothermal electrical generation plant. Shallower depth could support heating and cooling systems but for electrical generation you would need somewhere in the neighborhood of a 400 degree Fahrenheit bottom hole temperature. That's why the announcement doesn't make sense to me without some additional detail.
