All it takes is for one or 2 dry holes and all of this madness will end. Be careful that you do not get too greedy or you will be left with nothing.
I have heard this same line till I am sick. Our offers have gone from $200 to over $10,000 since I heard that line the first time.

Ed Hill- This ain't pocket gas... it's shale. According to the O & G's- Barnett Shale has 8,100 wells and NOT ONE dry hole.

Do you know of one dry hole in Haynesville Shale?

It's not greed- it's called getting what your land is worth. And no you won't be "left with nothing". That's an old line that even the most experienced land men are steering away from.

Try some new material here in Louisiana because the old Oklahoma City lies don't work here any more.
I agree with CMI. Although I believe that some wells will better producers than others, the assigned risk of a 'dry hole' is not going to be the same risk as drilling a Cotton Valley well. The Haynesville Shale is a tabletop formation and it is not as lenticular as Cotton Valley formation.
Greedy?!? Lets see, the O&G companies have made millions, no, billions over the years paying land owners pennies in comparison. Now that land owners are finally treating this as a business deal and learning enough to level the playing field a little you are calling them greedy. The O&G companies pay each other $17,200.00 per acre for 50% deep rights only the same week they were paying land owners $10,000.00-$12,000.00 per acre for 75% rights to everything if there was no vertical pugh. The state and parish can get $27,000.00 to $30,000.00 per acre, 25%-27% royalties PLUS annual rental payments until royalties start to flow. In the very same areas land owners ask for $20,000.00 per acre and 25% royalty and they are greedy! give me a break! If you have not figured out that people on this website are informed enough not to shake in their shoes at a comment like that you need to read some more posts! Sorry, I usually do not rant but goodness the gall!
On the other hand, one or two "gushers" and bonuses may skyrocket.

Dear wake up and smell the coffee. I live several states away and know the held a meeting on the South Broadmoor last night at a community church. And one in Southwood Terrace on Friday night. My brother attended that one.
My neice just signed with Chesapeake on an acre for $29,000 and 25% royalties and
no attatched fees.

Sweet deal. I just wish we would hear from Chesapeake. I live in another state and am having a difficult time keeping up with all of this. Thanks for the information of every one EXCEPT that Hill guy. We are all trying to learn and help each other in these forums. There is no place for belittling and foul language.
