Everyone has had stories told to them about strange things that have happened to themselves or others. I for one like things that can't be explained, the spookeer the better. Some will never tell their story out of fear that they will be rediculed by others. I would like to hear some of these stories, wether they are true are false, a story is a story.

I will start off with one that I heard about the "Saratoga Light". This would be a railroad story told to me first by my cousin and then by railroad people. The story goes that there is a RR crossing around Beaumont Texas and you can look down the tracks and see a light and there is another crossing that you can look back toward the first crossing and see the light. My cousin had heard the story of the Saratoga Light and wanted to see for themselves if they could find the source of the light. If I remember correctly the story went that a brakeman was decapitated by a train and he was looking for his head with his railroad lantern (the light). My cousin told me that you could go to each crossing and see the light. A group of them went out and were going to walk the tracks starting at each crossing and move toward each other until they found the source of the light. Before the two groups met on the tracks the light disapeared.

Thanks sesport,

The boulders just always looked out of place to me.
There are some boulders that seem out of place to me,locacted on the west side of I 49 as it ascends the edge of the hills leaving the old spanish lake lowlands north of natitoches. Like the boulders on Clyde Fant they seem out of place because there are no other visible boulders for miles. I would guess that they were unearthed in the construction of these roads, but would love to know
Yep. I remember (vaguely) seeing Joan Jett play there on that stage in the pond, somewhere around 1983.
Mr. Buckner,

I cast my vote for you as GHS storyteller laureate.

Even if it’s not “your” story, thanks for sharing it. Your stories always make me smile.
We'll have to add that to the collection of buckism's to be published.
Gosh Darn,

The Taylortown store has recently been remodeled (at least on the outside). Someone drove into it. It is all redone and pristine now. I've never been inside of it, but it always reminded me of the old country store where I grew up.
There's another spot that has always intrigued me. It is an old home site between Ruston and Farmerville. It's set atop a hillside. Every spring it is carpeted in jonquils and Lillie of the valley. There are some beautiful old trees that form a horseshoe. You can just imagine the Old Farm house sitting there, but it is completely gone without a trace.
I think this must be the breeding ground for those old legends. Our mind want to fill in the story. We see the shadow of what was once there and can't help but want to fill in the blanks.
I'm just surprised that another generation hasn't breathed life into the idyllic locale. Every time I’ve driven by, I can’t help but wonder what life was like there before it was abandoned.
Of course, there is a chupabracabra in South Texas just ask anyone in Cuero.

If you remember a few years ago someone thought they had killed a chupacabre over around Pollock, Texas. They sent the carcass to a university to be analyzed but found out it was only a coyote with a bad case of the mange, practically NO hair on it!
Old story arond San Antonio is about a certian railroad crossing on the southside where a carload of kids were supposed to have been hit by a train years ago and killed.

They say that if you drive to the crossing and stop your car on the tracks the spirits of the dead children will push your car off the tracks.

They say......that people have dusted flour on the rear of their car and after the car was pushed off thetracks they found small handprints in the flour.

So they say.
Another old story from south Texas.... one night at a small town dance hall a tall, smooth, well dressed gentelman arrived and began dancing with the ladies. He was a great dancer who every lady hoped they could dance with.

At some time during a dance someone looked at his feet and noticed that he was not wearing shoes.

In fact, he had chicken feet instead of human feet.

When it was mentioned and pointed out the suave gentelman simply disappeared.
Was he doing the chicken dance? I have been kicked out for doing the chicken dance or at least the girl walked of the dance floor.
