Back in the 90's the government made a law that cities , counties , states with a fleet of so many had to have so many of there vehicles on natural gas. Dandy Products in Shreveport converted several vehicles to run on natural gas. The power was down a little but it was still ok. You could switch to gasoline when the NG got low. The only problem was that the small tanks they installed would not go far and you had to fill up every other day. There was a couple of places to fill up , one was at Arkla on Dalzell and at Swepco on Union St. It may come back with all of this new gas finds. If they drill on your property it would be great to have a small tap for a gas filling unit on your land. Maybe it could be in the contract ? But after they drill on your land you can buy all the gasoline and diesel you need ! Jed

Jed, there have been vast improvements in the engine technology for natural gas (CNG - Compressed Natural Gas) fuelled autos since the 90's. Other countries such as Brazil & Poland have a large percentage of CNG powered autos. You probably could negotiate access to the natural gas but it may not comply with the car's fuel specification since the natural gas is unprocessed and untreated.
Im in Civil Engineering "roads , bridges , water and sewer" and not much into petroleum. I know they compress it to form LNG but what other processes does NG go through ? The LNG powered S-10 had 80 % of its gasoline power but not enough LNG storage capacity. If it had larger fuel capacity it would have been great. I wonder how bad it would be if you had a wreck and ruptured the tank of LNG ? Sounds pretty hot ! Those tanks were much much more thicker than a propane tank. Jed
Jed, CNG (compressed natural gas) and LNG (liquified natural gas) are two different forms of natural gas transportation fuel. CNG is the only fuel used by cars and is compressed to ~ 3000 psi for storage in the fuel tank.
:)
Reminds me of the summer job I worked in the late 70's at an LPG gas plant. The "gopher" truck we used could be switched from NG to gasoline with a toggle switch. Those were good days except for the slingblading. About the line tap running off a christmas tree... Ive thought about that possibilty too but I cant imagine an oil and gas company writing that into a contract. Not only would they be wary of how much NG you and your friends "wink wink" would siphon off, but there is always to potential for accidents that could halt production. In concept though, it would be nice.
Say hello to Ellie May fer me!
Yeah its just wishing but like the above gent said you would need to compress that NG into the LNG product before fueling. If it blew up the lawsuites , etc. No they would not sign that one , just make sure that your lease and royalties are large enough to buy gasoline and diesel. And when I go down and buy that brand new convertable Z06 Corvette with its 505 HP engine wouldnt I look stupid hooking up a LNG hose to it !!!! Im going to trade in the old jelopy soon. That sling blade will get ya on these July and August days with 99% humidity and no breeze out in the middle of the woods cutting right of way for a survey line. I welded building off shore rigs and it got hot up under a steel deck inclosed in the hot sun wearing a long sleeve welding shirt , cap and that old arc a blazing but the hottest I ever worked was with the sling blade in the middle of jungle type woods , August , 99% humidity , and noooooo breeeeze. Search Google for CNG Honda. They have been building/selling them for years. CNG only vehicles can take advantage of the higher octaine with a motor built for CNG specificly. Next check out the home refilling unit called the Phill. Myphill.com I believe. Gas compressed from you home line my cost as little as $1.60 a gallon depending on where you live and prices. Don
The next vehicle I buy will be CNG or CNG hybrid. I like the idea of filling up at home. I also like the idea of selling CNG at our pumps. We have an independent station, mom and pop store selling under Chavez the Idiot banner. Can't seem to get away from the lease. But really Saudi oil or Chavez oil - there is not much difference. Would really like to have a LA/HS GAS SOLD HERE sign.

Thanks LP - that would do well. And I know I could get a real gator for a photo op.
There is a bill HR6570 in committee that will give up to $90K to a gasoline station for each cng pump they install. You can read a two page summary of the bill at
There is a bill, HR6570, in committee that gives a tax credit of up to $90K for each cng pump a gasoline station installs. You can read the two page summary of this bill at http://www.house.gov/apps/list/press/ok02_boren/2008_07_22_ngv_rahm

The bill also provides a tax break for consumers who purchase a "PHILL" connector to use to fill their car from their home ng pipe line.
