I live on 7.04 acres in Bossier Parish Section 20, T17N, R12 W behind Lucky Estates and have not leased at this point. I was contacted in January 2009 that Encana was going to force pool everyone in this section but at this time have not seen any activity. I have also been receiving notices from a local law firm that Petrohawk has applied for proposed units in Sections 22, 26, 27 & 28, T17 N, R12 W.

Today i received a letter from a local geophysical service in Bossier who wants to pay me $175 for permission to conduct a seismographic survey utilizing the Vibroseis or Shot hole method, including the right to ingress and egress for such purposes, across my land.

Anybody got any suggestions because at this point i am going to say no?

Thanks, BAR

gardnhoser,
If you are not in a area that is currently "hot" you may wish your lease will run out. Seismic has no direct relationship at the instant to leasing. But good seismic results could lead to good bonuses in the future. Take the small money, hope for good results, cover yourself for surface (timber) damages. That is about the only issue to me regarding seismic.
To me, and this is only my opinion, seismic is generally good. If they find favorable results, you may get a good lease in the future. If you do not let them do the seismic survey, you may not get an offer.
