Thanks, RR.
Skip, I know the letter says 3 units, but the plat show sections 10, 11, 12, 15 and 22 with HA RA. What tells us that this is referring to sections 11 , 12 and 22?
Landowner. Some company draftsmen draw better plats than others. LOL! And each company does theirs slightly different. The ones that do not exclude all wells shallower than say 8 or 10K feet can be quite difficult to read. The trick is to look for the unit alpha-numeric designations. In this case, HA RA SUHH (Section 11), HA RA SUII (Section 12) and SUJJ (Section 22).
Ok, that explains it. I learn something new everyday. They are all over township 9. We are starting to get lease offers in section 8. News like this makes me think we should hold off for a while.
I agree. Every case is unique but in general I would not get serious about executing a lease until a drilling unit was formed and a well was drilling in my section. Prior to that there is little incentive for companies to make their best offers. And it is worth repeating, You can sign a lease anytime including AFTER a well or wells are drilled. Companies prefer to have 100% of the minerals in a unit under lease. Patience is usually rewarded.
After reviewing the plat, does that mean they will begin drillng in section 23? I have property in section 23, t15, r8w. From this map it looks like they are starting in the area. Should I start looking for a lease offer in the mail.? I'm new at this, and trying to absorb as much knowledge as possible as it relates to leasing the process, etc. In addition, I live in Los Angeles and check this website regulary to see what's going on. By the way can someone tell me what bump, means?
Pamela, This plat was for 16N 9W. When they are ready to lease your land, you will receive an offer. We are out of state also, but they found us.

Bump just means that someone wants to bring the thread back to the front to get people to comment again on the thread.
But note that when everyone waits for a drilling unit to be formed before they lease, the unit may never be formed. So no well and no lease. I agree every case is unique, "but in general" you won't get a unit if everyone holds out. I'm not preaching that you have to lease immediately all the time - do whatever is right for you. But consider that holding out can sometimes push off unitization, which pushes off production further into the future.
Have you heard anything about S11 15N 10W. I think Questar bought the rights from Petrochem. Are there any well planned here?
